In my experience trying to make a profile that is suitable for all classes is often a bit tricky as you have to estimate how the cloth classes compare to the plate classes. My thought was to have a plugin that will offset/overide the profiles MinLevel and MaxLevel<MINLEVEL><MAXLEVEL>, so the user would be able to offset these variables.
For example :
A level 10 mage cannot take as much agro as a level 10 pala, so if the profile is causing too many deaths for the mage the user could offset the MinLevel <MINLEVEL>and MaxLevel <MAXLEVEL>by -1. Or vise versa if the pala is well geared, grinding on green mobs and waiting for them to respawn.
I realise that most people could just edit the profile to suit their needs, but this way the profile would remain untouched and the user can adjust the profile for their particular needs on this part of the profile.
I don't know a lot about how much control a plugin has over a profile, so please no flame
