I noticed something when reconfiguring my PC the other night and it got me thinking...
Alot of you have been making posts about how WoW and/or HB crash regularly, sometimes almost every few hours and such, and others say it always crashes over night. I noticed when my backup program kicked in, and wow and/or hb crashed one of the 2 usually happened:
- The backup was backing up wow files which wow HATES cause the backup program locked out the files thus wow couldn't read/write them and thus had a shitfit and crashed on me,
- if i tried opening wow while a backup was running and it was backing up files related to wow, it said i didn't have rights and just closed out.
DO me a favor and check to see the following:
1) Does your system have a Backup in place and if so does it have a file locking feature. This means it locks whatever file(s) its backing up at the moment so NO program can access it. And if so, do one of the following: A) Disable the file locking so that it won't block the file from other apps while its being backed up or B) Remove your WoW and HB directories from the backup schedule completely. After this see if the crashes continue (double check you made changes). This includes if you have a backup on another system that backs up your system remotely.
2) Check your Anti-Virus setup in a similar maner as #1.
Let me know so I can get this thought out of my head... or maybe (crosses fingers) will help try to fix some peoples problems.
