I'm not quite sure if i placed this thread in the correct forum or if its been brought up before.

I read about the world first 85 and how he headed straight for twighlight highlands and began grinding the hardest mobs, tagging them and then allowing a group of people to swarm it with dps.

I understand how the RAF function works with HonorBuddy, but is there a way to have two characters RAFed but one character not in the group. So having you're low level character (for example level 15) and you're level 80-85 in a different group just dpsing after the mob has been tagged. My question is would this be possible, allowing the character to grind high level mobs faster, and most importantly, would it be more efficient. (I was just shocked that it got him 80-85 in 5 hours - GO ATHENE!)

Thanks in advance!

It wouldn't be any different from having the high level character in your group, from what I understand. I read somewhere (can't remember the source) that WoW knows if someone higher level helped you kill something whether or not they're in your group and adjusts XP accordingly. So just stay grouped anyway.

They way I understand it, for just a small group (like you at high level and your lower level RAF that you are boosting), it wouldn't work any different than having them grouped. Again, WoW knows how many people helped down the mob and adjusts your XP accordingly. I didn't look into Athene's method specifically, but if he wasn't in a raid with all those people, I think the only reason would be that in a group he'd have to share XP with everyone for every mob. By tagging and letting a couple people take care of each mob, you still lose some XP for them helping to kill it, but then the XP you do get then doesn't have to be split with a group. I could be way off, but that's my understanding. Someone else could tell me I'm very wrong, and I'd be grateful to learn something new.

Your partly correct, its more of, when level 60-69 all athene did was group up 5 mans, leave the group, tag a bunch of mobs, and let the group kill them all, after all the mobs die, athene regroups to reset the "auto-leave dungeon." that worked before, blizzard caught on to it, adjusted it to how much damage points you've done to it, then calculates between the groups and you so basically, your killing a non-dungeon mob. I haven't tried it since WotLK came out so im pretty sure by now they caught on to it. RaFing though.

Pally's are also the fastest to level up just because of the less down time, taking on more than 3 mobs at a time, especially with the gear he had. 6 hours to finish it? 1 hour a level basically?... the spawn rates are insane aswell during the leveling, i hit 81 in less than an hour, haven't played since, but im sure athene just tweaked the game, if my SPRIEST can have i'd say, 7 minutes downtime for each hour or so, im sure a pally's downtime would be 0-30sec. Just my opinion on it.
