Question about GB

This may be kind of a dumb question, but what is the difference between actually using the GB program and using the GB2 bot in HB?

GB2 isn't perfected and is fairly new. GB is the old usual program which has done it's job excellently for so long.

GB2 benefits form better combat due to using HB.

GB2 uses HB do everything instead. You'd just load up HB and choose GB2, and which path/profile/cc blah blah blah. Someone probably has a set-up guide out there.
