Hi All,

Firstly, I think the work going on with HB is awesome. It shows that we actually have Devs and a community that really want it to be "the" best bot and set the standard for the rest.

This said, I have some personal concerns about the way questing works in the HB2 beta. I don't like blacklisting. I think it's awkward and not as advanced as some alternatives.

My personal preference, would be to see Questing Profiles. This way Questing could be logically ordered.

Right now you're telling the bot "if you see this quest, then don't pick it up!". I would love to see profiles that told you what NPC to goto for specific quests, what order to do them in and what order to hand them in. It's faster, it's more efficient and I think is far better than a simple blacklist.

Just wonder what others think?

Again, I just want to reaffirm that I love this bot. I ditched the others I was using before, in favour of HB. I just think the questing aspect could work better like this.

EDIT:: I heard on the grapevine that something is in the works to improve questing, by having the profile go to a specific questing area.

I also am aware that everyone doing the exact same quests could be a huge problem. Perosonally created profiles would overcome this, but I guess we're all lazy and use the public ones. I was also thinking of using this for rep grinds where you really want to be doing the same quests over and over and it doesn't matter if it's the same as what everyone else does. In starting areas too, everyone will do the same quests anyway. Perhaps in other areas it would be bad, but I think those 2 have merit

/sign for questlist :)

with the new navsystem it would be nice as hell

*edit*

there is a MASSblacklist going on, and just "whitelist" quests from questhelpers... but on that the quests dont get handled in the right order, just do it like they come... but a real questlist and do it like the order sayd would be much better...

My suggestion (and I'm not trying to come off as mean or anything) is to wait until HB2/Questing is in a stable form to see if it fits your needs :) Once that happens, we can come up with updates and improvements, but right now its very volatile.

Sounds like a nice idea, then we could put Zygors Guides into the system.
Although questing is still in the early stages so wait and see

I agree with ski that we need to wait until questing is at least stable but once it is, i think that questing profiles would be excellent so that is what i voted for

OP is logically correct. However, we are not testing the ability to level with questing. You can't do that yet. We are testing basic mechanics of doing quests.

When that is working you will see 2 changes in HB:
1. A forcequestlist tag so that you only do the specified quests.
2. The bot will grind when it runs out of quests.

We can't release this yet but its within 2 weeks.

As Main and Nesox continue to work their magic, you will see the forcequestlist getting longer and longer as HB will do virtually all quests. At that point, you may find the blacklisting option is faster and easier.

So i presume with the forcequestlist tag we'll be able to create questing profiles telling it exactly which quests to go and pick up, thereby creating something similar to what the OP is asking for.

And you will be able to do dailies :P

Trouble is some quests are "creative" where you cant just kill the mob and loot it, you have to use an item on em first, etc. Will the bot be able to handle these different types of quests? Cause a lot of them are part of chains, and it would suck if it had to miss out on lucrative chain quest rewards (and exp) because of a single quest with an odd mechanic. I'm assuming that profiles will have the ability eventually to give some specific instructions to handle multiple chain quests efficiently, so We will just have to wait. Still in its current state, its quicker than straight grinding.

No one knows this yet, or if they know they arnt telling at this time.

I would say lets wait and see mate.

I would think so, they are putting a tremendous amount of work into it, and I am absolutely amazed at how well the development seems to be going. In the most current release 1.91 Beta Hawker mentioned trying to work on a larger variety of quests, so I am sure they are trying to make it as functional with as many types of quests as they can. Obviously some quests may be out of the question, but over all, I think we will see a very new style to botting with the features they are bringing to the table.

This build has only small bug fixes. Questing is unchanged.
We are now working on getting a greater variety of quest mechanics supported, having grinding until there are suitable quests available added and a sorting algorithm so it chooses the best quest to do first and will do quests in parallel if 2 or more are in the same area.

I am very thrilled about the Quest Order support, and having it so soon, in the next 2 weeks sounds great! I expected at least a month or more for just the basic questing to have all the bugs hammered out before we saw additions to the questing support. None the less, they never cease to amaze.
