That's a little unorthodox for a business to change what I have already purchased. If i have fulfilled my payment for my life long subscription, I think it only makes sense that it be honoured as such. Otherwise I think it would be fair to ask for a refund. In this case if compensation is not considered, I would like a refund for the time that my bot sub was taken away from me, also without notice at all.
