- Intro -

Purpose with this thread?: I will post this diary about my progress through leveling my Death Knight on a high populated server.

What will this cover?: This diary will be updated frequently, with the progress through the levels and areas.

So? - What now?: Let's begin, shall we? ;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Character setup:

  • Spec and Build: I decided to use a Death Knight Frost build which was already available on the Talented plugin that came with HB.

  • CC and Profiles: I had to decide, if I should run with Singular or another CC. At the end I picked FPSWare since I've heard good stories about those CCs, and I wanted to try something new!

  • Plugins etc: I actually only used those available with a clean install of HonorBuddy. Nothing else!

- Creation Day -

I've been looking forward to this day, since I've been away from World of Warcraft for a few months now. I couldn't find the spark, so I thought "Why not spend some time botting and try get a hang of it again?"

So here I started by planning my character. Thinking about what the purpose of the character would be and what I'd love to play on myself.
It all ended up with this Alliance Death Knight! I created the character and this is how it went
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Day 1:

    Spend most of the day finding the right stuff I wanted to use. Got a few friends who helped me out deciding and of course the forum helped me!

  • Day 2:

    Started with leveling my character in the late evening since I had a lot of things to do. Silly weekend to start, but I started the bot with Nesox' profile loaded.
    I didn't experience any issues, other than a few times I had to "guide" it. Other than that, pretty easy and quite AFK-able IMHO!

  • Day 3:

    Previous day I reached the 58th level. I had a break for almost the entire day, because I had some important things to do.
    I decided not to play on the character untill atleast 23:00 GMT+1.

    At about 23:30 GMT+1 I started the bot, and it raised quickly from 58 to level 60 with Kick's profiles for Outland questing.

    Minor update on Day 3: I am now level 62 and began on Zangarmarsh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Last update of 10/7-12 -

I left my PC for ~5 hours, and decided to let it quest while me being completely AFK. I thought it wouldn't be possible, but amazingly enough this is what I home to discover;

After about 5 hours of being completely AFK it actually had done a pretty good job. I saw that it had gotten me 3 levels, not been stuck and it had completed all of Zangarmarsh and 50/65% through Terokkar Forest.

So that actually makes me currently at this stage;

  • Level - Currently level 66

  • Reputation - Friendly with. Honor Hold :: Cenarion Expedition :: Sporeggar :: Kurenai

  • Current Total Time - 22 hours, 25 minutes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After a while not able to update this threada by various amount of reasons I now give you the last update from what happened till now

  • Day 1

    Started from level 66 and quickly reached level 70.
  • Day 2

    Went from 70 till 75.
  • Day 3

    I reached level 80 from level 75 without troubles.

Actually I haven't experienced any troubles from 66-80 with either FPSWare of Kick's profiles, so huuuge +1 to both!

Any specific reason for this?
I personally find that survivability is the most important part for botting, speed-wise. For this reason I usually use Blood when leveling/running a DK.

Interesting. It would be good to hear about your experience leveling with FPS' CC.
What profiles are you using?

I think Kick's profiles require some specific plugins. They definitely require specific Quest Behaviors. Don't forget to use those or you will run into problems.

Can you report on the specifics of those "guidings" so that the profile can be perfected? Would help a lot.

Thanks for this topic! When reported correctly, a topic like this will help the community a lot.
Good luck on the leveling! I'll be following your progress.

I have several (yes several) DKs to 85. If you have heirlooms, spec does not matter. You will eventually WANT to be blood with dps gear in order not to die even once. No matter what you pull except felreavers at low outlands level. The same applies if you play at PvP Server. So blood is slower (by a large margin at first) but you will never die.

About CCs. I use Joystick's blood pvp CC all time since it interrupts casts and values survivability. The only drawback is the extensive use of chain of ice when you pull, something that might seem suspicious to other players. The other drawback is that you might be better use another CC if you intent to dungeon with multi bot (questing+dungeons, resource gathering+dungeons, archaeology+dungeons). But if you choose to use multi bot with pvp+XXXX you are set to go.

So, summing up,

Blood is imo the best but not the fastest because you can

- survive everything (1)
- win most pvp battles against even +3 level or even more
- have instant queues if you decide to use dungeons (you should at least once for the quests in the entrance)
- for resource gathering because of (1)
- queue for pvp and have an easy time at BGs while leveling (multi bots pvp+XXX)
- resilient archaeology class to fill some leveling gaps in a secure way because of (1)

Good luck and have fun leveling

@Croga:

Hello, and thank you for the feedback :)
First of all I'll answer in the order you asked:

1) As I remember Frost is the commonly used DPS spec, so at first I decided to run as Frost. I realised after first death, that I made my first and biggest mistake on this new project. I got Dual Talent, so I will go get the Blood spec for further use. At the moment, I closed down WoW and HB since I got something to do and my computer urged for a break.

----------------------------------------

2) Currently FPS' CCs work brilliant. I haven't experienced any troubles at all. The only thing that I regret is, that I chose the wrong build from the beginning and that affects the "play style" I expected to get with those CCs. I bet it will change back to "normal" when I get my blood spec running. But again, so far - No troubles at all! :)

I use Kick's profiles that I got from his SVN.
----------------------------------------

3) Yeah, that's what I figured out after a while of experiencing troubles with the leveling profiles not to function properly. Maybe it was the missing Quest Behaviours or maybe my lousy setup of my HonorBuddy. Either way it goes a lot faster and more smooth after I copied the custom Quest Behaviours into the folder inside \HonorBuddy\Quest Behaviours\

----------------------------------------

4) Actually there wasn't that many issues with the Nesox profile. Actually there weren't any at all. It might just be me, who's a bit cheeky to call it a malfunction in the profile.

Quest: Massacre At Light's Point

I noticed that it didn't shoot the enemies reaching the "stairs" to the boat. I didn't want to risk my luck, so I manually killed them by pointing the aim at them.
Not a failure in the profile perhaps, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Quest: An End To All Things...

The thing I experienced with this quests was; It quickly killed the first 150 Scarlet Soldiers - But when it came to the 10x Scarlet Ballista it only shot once and flew away again. I waited for it to kill atleast the 5th but it went on for 7-10 minutes with only hitting it once and retreat! Therefore I stopped the bot and did the last part manually.

@Kikeron

First off - Thank you for the insight of "how to" do this. I will take both of your advices into consideration now before starting up leveling again.
Appreciated a bunch!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't have any Heirlooms, and as mentioned in the previous post, I failed big time at choosing my spec. But I will change it later.
About the CC, I could try that one out as well - But I think it works great with FPSWares at the moment, so maybe I should wait and see how it'll manage further on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, thank you for the summary of how to do this. I bet you know what your doing since you got several DKs at 85. Maybe I should try your advices.
I just got one question for you then; What profiles, Plugins and setup within HonorBuddy do you use mate? Just for comparison.

->

Thanks again for feedback.

About CC i think you will be happy to try wulf's CC AKA CLU. I leveled using it and i had nul problem except mainly with anti-magic shell and i removed it from the cc otherwise the cc is good
I was going to try Singular but singular was broken last time i tried with my blood dk it .

For profiles, Kick's are very good for questing. Actually much better than a few months before. I suggest, by the way, you use small or medium size characters (races) since taurens for instance, have many collision problems at times. Kick suggests in his profiles what plugins to use; see his post. I also use CombatHelper sometimes and always Autoequip2. Remember to clear the protected slots in Autoequip2 or it will not equip or choose trinkets from the rewards.

There are times I was bored to see it questing the same and same things again (I have leveled many chars by myself as well since I have the bot for less than a year) and I used some other profiles for instance killing booty bay guards when phased and raising this way rep with bloodsail before I did any quests there, used archaeology for 3-4 levels or raising mining and herbalism with the appropriate profiles etc.

@Noelbuddy:

- Thank you for your feedback mate. I will take a look at it. Right now I still use FPSWare, and tbh. - I've been AFK and botting the past 5 hours. No deaths, no stucks or any other trouble. But I will defo take a look at it! I like the feedback, and I hope to get more in the future! Thanks!

--------

@Kikeron:

- I also tried out those profiles by Kick a few months ago, and your right - Seems like they've been improved.
I currenly have made a Draenei, just for the looks. I thought about the "size" thing, so I chose to make it a female ;)

I usually never AFK-bot, and I always just put WoW on my 2nd monitor so I can follow it - So I know what you mean by sitting at the computer while botting :D That can actually make me sit there and enjoy the game in another aspect. Lol

Yet again, thanks for the great feedback you guys gave me!

+1 to all, from me!

@Kikeron:

I actually died a few times with my old Frost spec - And quite as you guys mentioned, I haven't had a single death after changing into Blood.
Seem to handle most situations + stupid pulls better.
