I don't know if it's just my server but I can't seem to make much profit anymore. I'm very lucky to even get 5000g a day. :/
The problem is that prices have dropped so much that there's not much to gain anymore.
Rare cut gems sell for 15g and lower but often even then noone buys them, red ones between 30g and 40g, same goes for uncut ones. Green gems sell for more than the rare ones so there's no use in even making something out of them. But the problem is that there's so much of them on the AH at around 16g for a red one that noone buys my gems before someone undercuts me. Since 4.2 prices are constantly dropping. Some rare gems are even a few silvers below vendor price which I find really funny. But that's not a good source for making much money.
Flasks are at an all-time low, selling the mats is more profitable and even that doesn't give me much. 20g for a stack of whiptail, other herbs even lower, 20g for a stack of ore... equipment doesn't sell at all, Volatile Earths are at 200g/Stack (that's 1g per item, even 40s less than Volatile Life) and so on.
Seriously, the prices are so low that sometimes I have to sell 3-4 cut red gems to even make a profit of 100g.
The highest profit I gain by milling herbs and making cards out of them (which don't sell as well) and then using them to make fortune cookies. I sell about 15 stacks of these daily for ~100g each and that's the best source for profit really.
I also tried going back to WotLK and BC items but guess what - there's stacks of nearly everything on the AH for very low prices.
I don't think it's my server's population because it's not lower than on any other average server but it's just what I noticed with my main char as well - you just don't need anything anymore.
In WotLK you could sell the ores and herbs until the very end, with Cataclysm people just don't seem to care for that stuff anymore. They just get their red gems and bufffood from the AH and log in to raid.
I'm really at a loss here.
My question to you is not how to make profit with botting in general but if anything has changed for you in the last few weeks/months. How did you handle things? Have profits gone down for you as much as they did for me? If you didn't experience this as extreme as on my server - how would you go about this happening to you?
I'm hoping for some encouragement here because I'm about to stop paying for my botting account if I can't find a good source for income. I'd get more just going through BC heroics and vendoring everything I think, lol.
