For Gatherbuddy, a lot of profiles are not needed. There are several profiles for gathering in
Outlands and
Northrend that basically cover the whole continent, or several zones within each at least. That keeps the Gatherbuddy users busy and spread out. There are a few profiles that are smaller and only cover one of the desired zones--say you just want a lot of Cobalt.
If you're looking to make a private profile, just remember its the zone that's in contention, and not your profile so much. So, a private profile really has limited value. Basically, you won't be using the same 'path' as everyone else, but you'll continuously be visiting the same nodes, your movement behavior will look the same, and you're just as likely to cross paths with other people--botters and non-botters.
For 'classic' resource gathering, Honorbuddy is usually preferred. It is superior using at navigating in the 2D world of ground mounts. Additionally, it drinks/fights etc in a less-robotic fashion since it has the full power of a CustomClass behind it. There is a
separate forum for Honorbuddy gathering profiles. But, the problem with contention within the zone you are harvesting still exists.
Hope this answered your question.
