Problems getting HB to work correctly

Hey guys, just got HB and read through the two guides I saw.

I am having problems getting my character to act correctly.

I play a shammy, level 7, using mords 1-20 pally prof.

And ShamWOW.

My guy seems to start up fine, he runs, targets, uses lightning bolt to pull, then lets the monster eat him to death, absolutely refuses to use his shock or swing his weapon. What am I doing wrong here?

Which HB version are you using, what profile, what area?
