Playing something else while DB runs

I'm looking at playing something less boring than D3 while my DB does its thing. I tried doing it last night but D3 kept throwing D3D errors and derping out when the other game was in full screen mode.

Anyone have some experience with this and getting it to run more in the background so I can play something else?

Put whatever your playing in Fullscreen Windowed mode.

It doesn't have fullscreen windowed, it's a steam early access game.
