Phantom Mail?

Just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them. I have had on two or three separate occasions now received a new mail message on all my botting accounts. Since I do not post any auctions on my bots I never like seeing new mail. The messages are all from the same person when received although a different name on each different occasion. Anyhow, when I go to check out what the message is, there is nothing there in my box to read and the little envelope icon disappears once I open the mailbox. Just curious if this is a WOW glitch, or something different. I have been able to add these senders to my friends list though I never see them come online.

I am assuming at this point that someone has sent spam mail (gold selling, account hack, etc.) to every player online at a certain time and that Blizz is deleting the messages but not able to remove the notice of a new message. Does anyone know different? Thanks.

I think it's spam and blizzard might delete the mail while it's waiting for you to open it so by the time you do the mail exists and shows the sender but there is no content.
