PF 'down' for a week

granted I can still execute the PF app, however when I attempt to login on any account it just locks up at "connecting to servers" like a 2wd truck in the mud, sitting and spinning its wheels. the issue has persisted for approximately 7 days now and I was wondering what the cause might be. I see there have been server issues, so I figured perhaps that was the cause.

not running program that could interfere with connectivity

I see that pokemon go (via phone) has updated. perhaps this is the cause?
if so, I do not particularly relish the idea of losing an entire month of access simply due to bossland not wanting to take PF down til the new year (as per moderator downtime statement in alternate thread)

i cant log with ptc since 7 days, but its problema of niantic, the server of ptc is down
