Hello,
This has nothing to do with HB/GB but looking for some help never the less.

Went home over my lunch break, and turned on my PC - surfed the web, waiting for WOW servers to come back up. (Was planning on setting up HB)
WOW servers come back up and no word of a lie, i ran from the Bank to the AH in Org. and BAM - Black screen, my computer has just shut down!
Now it did this last night as well, but i didnt think much of.
The PC tower is smoking hot, so i pulled off the side and cleaned out the fans (btw they werent all that bad)

Anyone have any other suggests i can try?
I have not turned on my PC to see if a fan is broke or not running, will try that when i get home.
Could it be anything else?

Thanks for your help!

You're on the right track there. You should troubleshoot your hardware first, checking your fans (case, cpu, other). If you already cleaned out the dust and it continues to overheat, that would typically imply a hardware failure or something in the process of failing.

It's either overheating or some other hardware fault.

My computer will sometimes do exactly the same thing as because it's getting too hot. I have eight fans in my system, it is a full height server case. But I'm running three video cards (two in SLI), four hard drives, two DVD drives and the usual standard peripherals.

If I close the door on my computer room overnight it will heat up to a point where my computers turn off within one hour. Or, on a hot summer day a good 10 minutes of playing games and is overheated.

If you are 100% certain it is not overheating then investigate possible hardware failure. Of course, this can also be caused by Windows just further complicate things.

But in my business the majority of "instant power off problems" is due to the computer overheating.

Agreed, pretty sure its just "overheating" - should i need to buy a new fan(s) do you know of a good website a guy can buy them from?

Aye, when i get home tonight thats the first thing i'll check.
Now i dont know alot about computers or hardware for that matter .. but is there a good guide to checking hardware the proper way?? Step by Step, make sure i dont miss anything?

Thanks for the timely responses!

Had this problem last summer the same things its the fan covering the cpu take off the side of the tower unhitch the cpu fan and clean it out and then clean your cpu this is the same problme i had.

** UPDATE **
Should you care,

It was infact the Power Supplie fan, but it wont come apart - its just one big old metal box.
Oh well, check with the local computer store see if they have one in stock. Damn HP!

As for now i have the side of the computer off, and a huge stand alone fan blow the shit out of it.. (So i can keep botting)

Thanks for the help guys

Fans are used to blow heat away from CPU/Motherboard. but i have a normal computer and i leave it on for weeks without turning it off. Never had over heating problems ever. Even when the only fan i had running was the cpu fan :)

There is so much beening blown towards the computer it has no where to go but out.. Like a splash effect. - Taking the hot air with it :)

But you Sir, are lucky. Once the CPU fan dies or what the fook it does.
It over heats pretty quick.
As i stated above, without a CPU fan running, i was luck to get 15-20 mins with the side open.

I've fried several CPU's in the past because of overheating, one PC went on fire once cus I had to spark it to get a uni project lol

I've found apartments are a dust magnet, i have to clean out my GPU/CPU/PSU every few weeks or it will start to fry.
