What's with this new botting attitude of everything is mine, and I'm going to report other botters so that I can have everything to myself.

So I log onto one of my farming toons today to find someone took the time to make a level 1 run it to town send me a mail basically saying "Hey I know you bot, so do I, but you don't know who I am so if I ever see you farming my herbs/ore I'm going to report you."

Really guys? Is this what the community has become? I remember the good old days with WowGlider/MMOGlider the community used to be tight knit and we would help others. Now everyone is just out for themselves. Seems sorta sad, and counterproductive, we are all trying to play odds against blizzard yet some of you are such greedy bastards.
 
just watch the zone where you are wright down the names and if you get report you report them all then you are sure you have the asshole that reported you

That's one stoopid botter. Don't respond, just write down the character name & date of the mail saying 'I bot too' for future reference (will be GM traceable to his/her account no doubt, lol).

But he/she is in the minority imo.
There are dozens of people in the HB community that spend vast amounts of time on bots, plugins, profiles... and then share it with all their buddies here for free.
Still a seriously generous community - don't let one bad apple spoil the whole damn bunch.
 
I'm not out for revenge, I don't really care, I knew the account was going to get banned when I started farming 16 hr days doing nothing but herbs/ore. I'm on a high pop server so that could be like 30-40 people at any given time.

It was a lvl 1 with a name like "ahighaidg" He deleted it right after. Blizzard apparently don't keep logs of every account created/deleted so making one sending a mail then deleting it won't trace back, at least that's what people tell me.

He didn't explicitly say he botted as well, but I mean what legit person is going to run a lvl 1 to stormwind to send an mail and then delete the toon, a normal person would just report you and be down with it. It's painfully obvious he bots as well, but he didn't specifically say anywhere "I bot"

if the guy deleted the lvl1 toon, it isn't deleted at all. a GM just has to take a look into the logs (and that takes a few seconds), and knows what account this deleted lvl2 refers to.

Even if that's true it was no admission of guilt. As I said he never actually said "I bot". But no legit person would go through the trouble he did, and phrase it exactly the way he did about it being "My herbs", "My zone". If he didn't bot as well.

Yet the work it takes to run a lvl 1 to SW send 1 Mail and delete the toon just so that you can tell someone "I know, you bot, and I don't want to see botting in my areas again or I will report you." I mean who says that a normal person would just be straight up and report someone not go through all this bs for nothing. It's obvious hes trying to scare me away from botting so that he can get more ores/herbs.


He definitely is a fellow botter, I just don't have any proof blizzard would accept for it.
 
Actually he did say that he was botting mate, reread your quote of him, if that is exactly what he said just report him right away for disturbing, blackmailing and threatening you on false claims and he bites the dust. Lemme quote what you wrote in the first post: "Hey I know you bot, so do I, but you don't know who I am so if I ever see you farming my herbs/ore I'm going to report you."

So basically, the "so do I" part of his mail is where he said that he is a botter. On a side note, Blizz keeps all logs, not sure for how long but way longer than a day or a week. So as long as you have his name you should go and report him asap. He wants to blackmail? Fine, screw him up real good so that retard should think twice next time.
 
It's funny when this happens. Because you know the kid righting the mail is about 13, 250 lbs, pimple's galore, and beat's his dog (Idk just what I imagine when I get these).

Only thing I can tell you is, report him and move on. Also don't use public profile's.
 
Well, I highly disagree with you ganz. You can bot the same place as I do 24/7, even use the same profile with ninja nodes on and I won't mind. Threaten me once or try to blackmail me and I will sure as hell do my very best to get you banned.
 
Open a ticket on him for harrasment and watch his ass get suspended for a few days but I don't bother responding to idiots like that personally.
I've had countless people tell me they will "report your bot ass" but I've yet to have a GM pick me up on anything, then again I usually babysit my main account when its botting so I can respond to people.

My point exactly.

If no one harassed anyone for using the program they use themselves, half the threads in our ban section would be non existant.

However looks like there's nothing anyone can do to combat this issue because it's human nature to be greedy. Nobody wants to be on the same path as someone else because their "profits are going down" or they are losing gold to you.

The bot farms for you; stop taking it for granted.

And yes do just what Teveel said. Monitor your botting account and keep a normal amount of hours played for a few days. Submit a ticket and say you're a long subscribing customer and you definitely don't appreciate other players harassing you for not responding to a tell or something of that matter.

Kids will be kids.

reread it i said "send me a mail basically saying" Basically meaning I paraphrased it encase he visits these forums to, didn't want to type it out word for word that would be silly to post it word for word on a botting forum.

And see it from the other botters side, obviously there's some kind of paranoia connected to botting, and therefore the survival instinct kicks in: Better you than him, at least that's what would drive me to do it.
 
You guys are like the ultimate class of irony.
The thread is about how rubbish the community's gotten in terms of willingness to feed each other to the dogs.

Just because it hasn't happened to you before doesn't mean it didn't happen.
