turn GPS off on your phone
you can but make sure yoru Location is off on the phone but i would NOT recomend it
I've been doing it all along. While PokeFarmer is running is simply sit on my phone and evolve pokemon, giving me almost 100k xp/h at times. As well as managing my eggs of course.
But as the others have said, make sure to deny the app access to the GPS or you'll be spamming soft bans on yourself. They might be able to detect the double usage and give a permanent ban, but for now I haven't faced anything.

as others said- its certainly possible.
I would suggest not doing it- I don't belive it will be long before we see permeant bans.
my guess would be just before they introduce trading/1v1 fights and breading.
The end of the day what they don't wont it 3rd parties making money from there product- when trading comes in I cant see how they can stop it.
