Paypal chargeback scam

I am getting scamed. I just recieved an email for paypal claiming for evidence of the trade I made.
"An unauthorized account activity claim was recently filed against the following transaction"

they request me:
"We need additional information from you within the next 7 days. Please log
in to your PayPal account and go to the Resolution Center to see the
details of this case. There, you can enter any information regarding this
case that will help us fight the reversal on your behalf"


I was selling wow gold, one guy added me to skype and requested a trade and we agreed 110k vs 49.5?. he sent first the money to my Paypal account and he was verified account from JAPAN so having the money on my side I just gave him the gold (I took ss before and after). however, I cant proof the guy I talked in skype is the same I made the trade with in Paypal, as He didnt tell me his paypal account. I didnt know about the "chargeback scam" so when I recieved the money I thought I was safe.

Is there any way I can keep the money and win this case? What should I answer to Paypal?

Well for starters, paypal don't do shit against people that buy online currency, they can't really let him "win". They said it themself.. so even if you didn't scam him I don't know a reason why they should give him the money back.

Yeah you'll lose that money or Paypal will make your balance negative if its already transferred off Paypal.
Should of looked at the guides covering against scam attempts, oh and never use Paypal apart from trusted reputable buyers.

My latest idea (I'm yet to test since I havent been scammed)
Make a fake paypal, everything fake, no details linking you.
Its limited to $500 a month but that will do for most peoples gold selling.
Get them to pay into their and before you pay them in gold transfer it out to another account.

If you get scammed and paypal wants you to pay, hey look no money for them to chargeback and no links to you.

Tried that already, all accounts got frozen due chargeback.

Can you not get them to gift you the money in future to prevent chargebacks.?
I know it does not solve your current issues but may help in future.
As for paypal just tell them he bought currency online and you did it by skype call.
Not sure if your going to have any luck with your money this time but good luck all the same.

A lot of people are using "agreement" emails to send to buyers Paypal email to verify it's them and to get the buyer to agree that once the transfer of online currency is made, they cannot chargeback their money. I've never used it myself, but it seems like the right way to do it.

Happened to me too, but paypal dont do chargeback with wirtual goods. Dont forget to state them that you didnt sell them any physical product and he did recieve the virtual goods in this case wow gold. You will get your money back but it can take up to 3 months cause they have to do some legal arrangements with his bank

So i have few days to send a msg. I think its good he says he didnt agree in the trade because I have skype logs and wow screenshots of the trade. I am gonna arrange everything and mail it to paypal saying I sold him wow gold and he agreed with the trade.

Hello guys same shit happened to me too, maybe the same japanese guy(s) @ the thread opener!

So the last few days i sold my gold to some japanese guy, i opened up a thread on owndcore,
told my price, what server i sell. Then this japanese dude contacted me on skype.

I sold him 4x this week, gold worth 200? and today, my paypal said its all gone and the buyer didnt authorize the payment.

I called at paypal and the dude i talked to ment that they are checking it and etc.

So what is the safest way to NOT get scammed anymore ? I need advice, cause i really dont feel like paying for my 5 accounts anymore after this today..

does not matter, paypal does not take any safety for sellers of virtual goods... thats why all sellers on ebay etc, ask for a personal call or id screenshot before delivering game-keys or ingame currencies that were paid with paypal.

i never heared of someone who sold virtual currency, winning a dispute against the buyer and i am in the business for more than 5 years now...

so your chance will be lower than 1% to win this case. since paypal only accept "delivery papers" such as from UPS, fedex or similar to verify that you delivered the goods, you are fucked up as a seller of virtual goods.

You need to have some form of chat conversation where they verify their paypal e-mail, or admit to being the account holder where you can determine that that account is owned by whatever email.

Commonly in TF2 trading people require that when you buy something off of them with paypal, that you indicate it in comments something like this to protect themselves;

"Purchase of electronic goods. - By sending this money to [your name ([email protected]) I have agreed that I have received all of the intended items prior to any transfer of cash, and will not charge the seller back for any of the purchased items, for any reason."

You may choose to word it more professionally, as asinine as this sounds it's sometimes more then enough to overthrow a charge back. Talking from experience.

Maybe it was a private buyer lol. I think you should find some private buyers too lol. Cause you're getting ripped off lol.
