Overwatch Bans?

Is anyone watching what bliz is doing with Overwatch bans? Supposedly, they are banning people for cheating, but if the player then wipes everything from their PC and purchases a new game... they are banning them again. Even if no cheating occurred on the new account.

Assuming this is true, do you think they'll try to roll it out in WoW?

Should we be taking any actions to protect ourselves?
