The problem
The game does not have the biggest user base - and we only have a few talented developers.***
Now the amount of work of writing and keeping a plugin updated is huge.
  • AA updates break the plugins too, not just AB itself.
  • Users find bugs all the time, which has to be repaired.
  • Users ask for new features that has to be implemented.
  • And you want your own improvements incorporated.
  • Aaand sometimes you just have to rewrite the whole thing. To make things better.

Don't get me wrong, I am not rich!
I am not proposing to make the current prices into a monthly one, that would be crazy. (20 EUR / mo? ha!)

Implementation

There are three kinds I can think of.
  • a) AB premium membership. "Shared pocket", like Spotify.
  • b) Simple monthly payment - price set by developer.
  • c) Paid new big updates.

a) You pay a monthly 10 EUR - for example, and you can use all the plugins you want.
By the end of the month the site calculates which plugin you used, for how long. Then distributes the "wallet" amongst the plugin devs.
It sounds kinda complicated, but it is just a mere few lines of code to calculate this. Keeping track and sending out the money? Well, only Out or the other devs know if it's possible.

- Out, or the AB team could also decide which plugin goes into which price category.
For example a tiny anti-afk bot (which is very useful!), takes much less work than a full-fledged grind/trade/etc bot.

Example: 3 categories, A{5}, B{3}, C{2}. A is largest.
5 EUR package = 5 points. { 1 large; 1 B + 1 C; 2 C }
10 EUR package = 12 points. ...
15 EUR package = 20 points. { 3 large; 5 small + 1 large }

- People would have to keep a "tab" on the site, like "Steam wallet" - to prevent hit and run.

b) Simply allow people to subscribe. For example, I would pay 2.5-5EUR monthly for the grinder bot.
Maybe 5-10 EUR for the trader. I mean, in 2-4 months, the full price is paid, and then the rest goes to improvements.
This is basically idea A with less work involved.

c) Introduce the idea of new versions.
Like: GrindBot v2. Which would cost the full price again.
This is thin-ice-area, as the devs would have to tread carefully which release is worth a new version, when people don't get grumpy, etc.

*** To be honest, even if we get tons of new people after the 3.0 release, the one-time payments still run out.

Even with the subscription added, the current "lifetime purchase" could be kept if devs and users wish so.

Thats a stupid idea and will kill the bot even more..

As I said the current prices and pricing model could stay the way it is.
It would be an alternative, to support long(er) term development.

( I mean 5-10-25 EUR covers what? 2 hot meals? lol.
Maybe 0.25 hours of work hours?
If the devs were to do Amazon Turk work - that would pay better. :D )

Price with choosen of Monthly/Onetimepaid and with possibility of changing price of the plugin.
