it might just be me but sometimes when i relocate (a short distance fromw here i was) it fails to catch any pokemon until it spins a pokestop like 25 times than once it does that it catches them easily again

This is a soft ban (40 times), best thing I've found if moving a short distance is to stop it for 4-5 minutes, then place yourself on a footpath near where you want to be and start off again. Seems to be working quite well for me now.
