One of us got banned, what about the other?

Hello,

My mate and I got 2 accounts under one user-name each and we bought a "common" account mainly to bot with. Now, she was botting on one of her account (let's call it WoW2) gathering stuff on Saurfang (EU) and all of a sudden: Blam. License termination.

Now, we only began to bot a couple of months ago. Never did it before and we had these accounts the last five years without anything on them. She is going to call to try to get them to lift this ban. However, I have a couple of questions. Important detail: we have a static IP address.

- She has two accounts under the same Battle-net ID. But only the one she was using got banned, not her other one. Does that mean that her other account might get banned when they find out it is under the same BN ID?

- Now she is writing to get this account back. Whether she does or not, should I also keep a low profile with botting since we are all on the same IP or it doesn't matter (since they only banned one of her accounts anyway)? All our other accounts (the bot-account included) doesn't seem to have been influenced by this one ban (even though I was botting on two accounts -- gathering -- at the exact same time she got banned).

Blizard knows already, that both account, her main and her bot account are running under 1 BNet. they also know they both run on 1 ip. They are not stupid.
However, if she didn't bot on her main account, and if her main account didn't benefit in any way from her botting account, she does not need to be scared. Her main account is save. If she botted on her main account, or if the main account benefitted from her botting account, it is another picture. there might still be a ban.
1st rule of botting: never bot on an account that you don't want to lose.
2nd rule: don't link an account that you dont want to lose with a bot account.

My suggestion: forget the bot account, create a now one. BC's are just 4 Euro.

I am afraid your answer doesn't have much to do with my questions. Maybe I haven't been clear enough formulating them. Sorry. I try again:

I asked: Since one of HER account (say WoW1 under her BN ID) got permanently banned, does that mean that the other account (say WoW2 under the same BN ID) will be banned too, but they just didn't have time to do it for some reason? Only one of her account under her BN ID has been permanently banned.

My second question was, that since we have a static IP, my accounts and the bot account are on the same IP. Does that mean that all the other accounts have to keep a low profile (since on the same IP) or just her?

the licence gets banned, not the account. the "cd key" used gets banned

usually easily appealed the first time, just act like a child and plead to never do it again.

Ho, I see, thank you for your answer.

Can the fact of having one licence banned have an influence on the other licences from the same IP or do they treat those as different individuals?

If there is no link in items or gold betwent the unbanned and banned account, the unbanned account is save.
if the accounts, banned and unbanned, are linked (huge amount of gold transfer for example) there is still a chance of a ban for the not banned account.

blizzard always treats wow accounts individual. even there are some wow accounts on a battle.net account.

Not always, if you are banned for gold selling, aka exploitation of economy, you can get everything wiped with no second thoughts. On to the op topic, chances are she is safe, blizzard doesn't bother much with small botters, if she never did anything with her other acc, she shuold be ok unless the gm is in a crusade to clean wow of botters and has a stick very high in his ass.

As far as using the same IP goes, you have to consider that there are many scenarios where multiple people use the same IP address. External (visible to the Internet) IP address are not unique to individual computers, but rather to the main router that can connect multiple computers to the Internet. Think about a university dorm, community library, or even a local McDonalds. All of these computers will have what appears to be the same IP address but they are all completely individual. Blizz knows this and does not simply ban IP addresses. What would be the point since you can easily obtain a new IP address with a router reset in the case of a dynamic IP address (which most average users have through their ISP.)

Blizz bans specific WoW accounts, not specific BattleNet account. These are two separate things. They do this for the same reason they don't blanket ban IP addresses. Suppose a family has multiple wow accounts all set up on the same BattleNet account. Dad has the main account WoW1, mom has WoW2, little Billy has WoW3, his brother Bobby has WoW4 and finally, little sister Susie plays with WoW5. Little Bobby decides to bot extremely unsafely and gets his account (WoW4) banned. Blizz is not going to punish Mom, Dad, Susie and Billy for their brother's stupidity. The exploitative behavior needs to be more directly linked between accounts other than the fact they share the same BattleNet account as has been mentioned elsewhere in this thread (i.e., mailing extravagant amounts of gold between botting and non-botting sub-accounts. etc.)
