So I've been an avid HonorBuddy fan for some time now, but as of a few days ago I decided it was time for a reformat. I've done this quite a few times in the past and it didn't take very long at all. Installed the current ATI drivers, all the required packages to run HB, etc etc etc. When I launched wow, having copied the installation directory from the pre-formatted HDD, i noticed artifacts appearing across the screen. Mostly around bodies of water, but still present in the sprite animations of say , the frostbrood vanquishers blue glow.
Thinking something wasn't installed incorrectly from merely having copied the WoW directory, I downloaded the installed and allowed the launcher to update WoW to current from scratch. This put WoW into DX11 mode, which I didn't notice immediately and as the artifacts were gone I figured the problem was solved. That was until I went to launch HB and it prompted to enter DX9 mode, which I then did, and the artifacts are back.
I've tried using the AMD catalyst center to uninstall all components, and use a prerelease revision of the driver set 12.3 which someone had reccommended on the forums for a similar issue, to no avail. The video cards are new, I've never had any issues with them until now so I don't think they're the issue, especially since there's no problems in DX11.
The DX web installer says there's nothing more for me to install, and being on windows 7 I cannot uninstall DX11 as it is incorporated into windows.
I've tried toggling the effect settings for water to low, thinking that the artifacting focusing on those areas might be lessened if i lessened the water quality, but that didnt work. I'm hoping someone has some ideas for me, as since I have no problems in DX11 I can still play wow, but the artifacting with DX9 seems to cause HB to crash shortly after launch when the artifacts are present, and that means I cant use it ;(
