Actually, the real reason for the patch was to fix the exploit which allowed players to recycle/relist already sold items on the GAH/RMAH.

Wouldn't be surprised, rampant amount of duping going on. It's in blizz's best interest to keep the economy as dupefree as possible so they keep getting their cut.
