[Official] Banwave December 18th and Demonbuddy Auth disabled

Well over 1000 people seem to have gotten banned today. We have been looking hard for signs of detection and using the bot ourselves since there were a few bans last week. So far we have not found anything and the development accounts are not banned.

As of now, this looks like a server side detection of a behaviour pattern. Both the EU and US Official Diablo 3 forums are full of angry banned players. In our experience botters take their bans and move on without grumbling. We think perhaps the server side algorithm hit a lot of innocents as well.

In the interests of safety, we have disabled Demonbuddy auth and are going to review our options tomorrow.

Just curious if they developer accounts are running more than one instance of D3 at a time, and if they are letting the bot go 24/7 or if they are constantly start/stopping the bot to fix settings and such. Hawker any info?
 
yet i cant see a single ban complain on the official us or eu d3 forums.

Was a fun ride, but personally i'm glad it's over for myself.. I made a killing while it lasted, thx Hawker.
 
Please consider this as a constructive argument only.
Me and my brother have been using VMware from start, survived all banweaves till this one. Today I had 7/7, some accounts haven been running 12 hours a day only 3 days a week. Before the new patch my brother xfered all gear from his bots just in case. We survived the first weave. He has been busy and only started one bot afterwards. This bot is banned today. The other 3 that havent been running for 10 days or so are safe (these 3 bots are all 95+ paragon, been running for 2+ months 12-17 hours a day).
Long story short, at least from this experience, it seems that what they detected, they did it after the new patch. Also it doesn't look that any autoit bots have been banned, at least from what i could see on other forums.
As for bnet forums, it could be that a big part of the "legitimate" players are actually DB users.
And again do not get me wrong, no hate here, botting is a risk, but please try to find out what got us detected, because it is not just patterns, few of my bots haven't been using act3 for botting and still banned.

something was added into the client in the last mini patch, it's not warden you should be looking at:p server side algorithms my ass
 
jesus all i see is a bunch of crying children. Banwaves happen you're botting get over it.

@hawker i believe i read somewhere that the new patch implemented something that can see the current processes/hooks into your d3 or what not. Maybe i'm wrong but as others said, i know a few people just using auto-it bots that are fine and have been fine for quite some time.
 
To the DB team what honest percent online session count decreased ?

I am pretty sure you keep track of online demonbuddy session counts

What honest percent it is decreased when compared to yesterday ?
 
what about proccess dectection, we all have "Demonbuddy.exe" running in our proccess list. i'v changed mine to say ee.exe but it still says demonbuddy in the discription do you think this could give us away? because i know the blizz team has visted this website more than a few times. probably have active members that are apart of the "blizz team"
