I'm astounded by the level of stupidity by some people. Today alone I have come across three botters, they were all in the same zone running profiles I knew from here (Cuz I use them sometimes) and they where WAY TOOOOO EASY TO SPOT:
Running backwards on themselves, using a small number of attacks, one guy was just standing there casting the same spell over and over for 15 minutes one guy would just run a U-shaped path ad nauseum.
Upon following them, NOT ONE LOGGED OUT. It's amazing how you can be bad at botting but these guys pulled it off...
I originally thought they should just leave the game forever, but when I though about it I realized, these are cannon fodder for Blizzard. They get banned while most of the intelligent peoples bot accounts stay safe.

I pose a question:
Do we need the noobs? I want your input or should we just cast the idiots away...

Well obviously the higher contrast is needed. I ran into one just now, botting in south Tanaris. An Undead Female Priest. She kept doing the same thing as well. Holy Fire, Shadow Word Pain, Smite, Wand, Wand, Wand, and on rest: Pop Renew and drink.

I sometimes let my bot run as well when I am sleeping and that is the only time when I'm not keeping an eye on it. Is there any way you upgrade your safety? Do you have like an auto-logout function as with Glider? I just hope I won't be one of the unlucky people who wake up banned because I was too lazy to watch my screen whilst doing other things.

But again a bot will do the same thing over and over again time and time again. so whats the point to point it out really???

Ofc. u will spot the bots easy when u bot urself.

Most people will choose the bot profiles available to them and not make their own. And its perfectly understandable. Why? It takes time to create ur own profile. And if u dont really want to do it hell you just jump on the train and get a ride u know. So i cant really se whats up with "smart" botters. What is a smart botter eanyway. Its all about saving urself some time from playin and jump straight to the fun when ur max lvl.
All the stuff in between dosnt matter.

Just me oppinnion. (most likely shared by meany)

I agree you can see them better than most, but also when you are hand farming you do about the same thing. You figure out what sequence of attacks kills things the quickest and you repeat ad nauseum. That's why this cannot be the only factor used to detect it. Also you have to realize that you have to do something that is going to stand out to Blizzard in order to be caught.

There are 11.5 million accounts which means the dps rotation of one player is not going to stand out as being an obvious bot. The only way you are going to get noticed is if you start stepping on other players toes or if Blizzard detects your tool. So that's why there are guidelines and suggestions for minimizing the risk that you step on too many people's toes. You step on the wrong toe and Blizzard is going to notice you. Even spaming the AH with items. They can't automatically use that as a trigger because maybe its a guild bank selling crap or who knows what.

We can see because we are on the ground and we are watching for it. Other players are on the ground so they can see us better than Bliz, but they aren't necessarily looking for it unless you step on their toes.

Everyone is or was a noob at this at sometime, maybe this is just not something they consider and need ti pointed out at them? I dont believe anyone wants to be bad at botting just some of us understand how it works alot better then others. Instead of posing questions like

Do we need the noobs? I want your input or should we just cast the idiots away...

Maybe try "How can we help the Noobs" I have only just got the program and i have read the forums alot and i dont know how to make this log out if someone is following me.

When someone starts something like this they either have knowledge or they dont. Then out of this you have people that dont have knowledge of how "bots" work who want to get this working straight away to make money as quick as possibale and to be honest there is sooooo mcuh info to take in on how to do this.

I say give them a chance, there is nothing we can do in game to help them so they are at there own mercy however this is a forum so there is stuff we can do here positivly to help them. If this is a mjor concern of yours why dont you start something explaining what you know and how you set things up that are a smart way to Bot?

Whats the point in Hb then? If you cant run a profile to level with it doing the same thing over and over, Might I add that Gb does the same but only with gathering rather than grinding. Do you call all the people who use the profiles noobs? Yeah you might know somebody is botting but then if your using HB how many people know your botting?

HB and GB are not free, so no "noobs" would mean loss of business for the devs.

Aslo, "noobs" tend to learn things and become contributors to the community. Granted, there are some who are clueless and will remain so. But there are also plenty of intelligent people out there who can learn and wind up developing meshes, plugins, profiles, etc.

Without the "noobs", you would basically kill the project and the community would die. What would you suggest, some type of IQ test prior to purchase? This would certainly help keep the number of stupid botters down. *rolleyes*

The answer is yes ... we need the noobs.
 
In the days of glider and pre tbc you could spot a botter a mile off since the would grind the same spot, they would then get a little better and start to skin, mail and even fight back when you attacked them. You will only noticed somebody is botting if you bot yourself and are in the same area to notice this yourself. There is a guy on my server who I know is botting on his account then does instances etc at night.
 
Maybe it isn't stupidity at all. Maybe they just don't care. When I started botting, I was very careful and made my own profiles, never botted if I was away or sleeping. Then I started to sell gold. If I bot 24/7 instead of 8 hours a day, I make 3 times more gold. Probably I also collect 3 times more player reports and get banned 3 times faster, but I make same amount of gold/ban. Theres always a risk of banwave, and no one can be 100% sure when it hits the bot you are using. I have no influence over this, It has nothing to do with intelligence. It has hit me, it will hit me, but only thing that matters is how much gold I sold before I got hit. I just start new accounts, level them to 80 and start farming gold.

Maybe stupidity is that, when someone bots his main character, is careful, clever, uses a lot of time to make nice profiles, gets nice mounts and cool gear, then he gets detected by warden and starts raging how he has been betrayed and it was supposed to be safe to bot.

On the other hand, when I had never heard of bots and was levelling my shaman by hand and stayed long in same area, I got reported. Killing same monsters using only stormstrike and shocks. What else can you do with mid level shaman?? Maybe it was because i didn't constantly jump and run around my targets.

But yeah, if you bot, you'll detect bots, WoW is full of them.
 
Yeah i have a few friends who don't bot watch my guys and aside from sometimes not being overly bright (the bots not the friends) most people just dismiss them as bad/bored players.

Let's say you with your omni-wisdow don't want the noobs. What can you do about it? How exactly are you going to begin the casting?

Quit thinking your elite, you aren't. Neither are they. Same boat, same oars, same sharks to eat you both.

Question for you... How do you know your bots aren't acting like total retards every moment you aren't watching them?

This is the point where every decent botter with a sense of dignity must think: Oh spot taken, lets try/create a different profile. Not: OMG HES TEKIN ME LOOTZ, REPORTEEDZ!!!

I always find people farming the same stuff i want, with profiles i know/created (for another bot) / edited (firefly for horde :)). If he's there first i either stay if it's a large zone and hope he moves away, or move along to another zone farming something else.

Simple. Remember, if you report, you are under the lens too (GM: how the fcuk does he know that person is there for 20 hours? Coincidence or maybe he is there 20 hours too. Let's look it up...)
