At one point I was trying to learn a different language just for fun and I tried Rosetta Stone out and it was really helpful. Mind you I gave up after about a day or two

I never bought a book to learn english. All I knew was the basics I learned in school and the other stuff I learned in the internet especially in Buddyforums and some online games.

I itsn't that hard learning an other language, just stop trying to translate everything in your mainlanguage. Try to think all words in your head in the other language. This is the key.

While I'm writing this lines I don't think any word in german, only if I want to say something that I don't know

Ah nice, I'll keep that in mind ^^ but thats kinda how I have to think in order to use my Spanish properly cus they phrase things differently and such than in english

Don't think you can compare learning english to other languages.

Watch some TV, be it a Movie, Series, Soaps or whatever, it's (mostly) in English with appropriate subtitles (I know, Germany synchronizes alot, in Poland they have a dickhead reading the script, it's even worse!).
Listen some Music, it's (mostly) in English too.

It's easier to learn and catch english because you get influenced with it from a young age.
Other languages are more rare in the TV and Music scene, therefor harder to learn if it's not your native language.

At least that's what I think about it.

would already know english from home. some say English is the hardest language to learn, I tend to disagree seeing how more people move to america and
pick up the language with ease.

yes but if hes US he has no german people to learn it from lol any german you see in the US usualy never speaks it outside of there home in other countrys its a good mix so easier to learn english

Aye, English is a vast langauge to grasp fully with so many slang terms made up so often and with it sentence structure crap @.@ hard even for those who speak it to fully grasp the language
