In Germany we dont have that, I just heard this year about it, also dont they discount certain things to get tons of people in the stores to buy then the not reduced normal stuff - just sayin ...
dude... it's way beyond "getting people in the store to buy non-discounted stuff" already.
It's at the point where they increase the margin on the recommended retail price to make sure the margin is "normal" when they put on the discounts.
Imagine this:
If Black Friday didn't exist:
- Manufacturer sells sweater to store for $18
- Store sells sweater for $25
- Store earns $7
Since Black Friday:
- Manufacturer sells sweater to store for $18
- Store sells sweater for $50
- Store gives 50% discount on Black Friday!!!
- Store earns $7 on Black Friday, $32 on other days
In some communities, people have gone blind by the discounts. They don't see the price anymore, just the discount. They've forgotten the value of money or goods, they only know %.
