Hello all! after 12 years... I thought I might give WoW a go. So... of course I want to jump right in with a bot! HAHA (yes I know it is currently down)

I have been searching, but I will flat out confess that I am still confused by a lot of the game. So, if I say something 'incorrectly' please feel free to correct me. I need to learn the lingo.

Basically, I have have 2 accounts. 1 legit, 1 not-so-legit. 1 toon from each account shares a guild bank already. Both accounts are using Legion and play Bleeding Hollow (if that matters). Bot is a troll / druid (I hear is best for farming).

What I'd like to be doing is farming herbs / gold / or anything else profitable on the bot and have sell off stuff on the AH and then fill the Guild Bank. Then my legit account will come reap the rewards.

My questions are:
1. Are there particular skills I should set up? Or is it better to just have bot avoid combat all together?
2. Are there choice farming grounds?
3. What plugins (if applicable) can make my scenario work?

I fully intend to keep reading and searching the forums. However, with being brand new to this game and this bot, I am finding it hard to use the right keywords while searching. I appreciate any info anyone can provide.

A lot of your questions mostly depend on what you decide to farm and what type of server you're on.
Herbs, raw gold, etc - they all have small circumstances that would change what skills you may use for the character, what area you farm, what plugins you'd use and whatnot.

For 1), Typically you'd want to go for anything that's geared to a mix of survivability and damage.
There's not really a "best" for a universal context - but for specific farms some talents can excel more than others.
If you're doing things such as dungeon farming for raw gold or farming lower-level herbs - you'd want to gear your talents to things that increase mobility.

For 2), this also depends on what you're aiming for to farm and your server bot population.
There's some herb spots that are better than others, but typically these areas will have a higher concentration of other botters -
and often, these other botters will be using the exact profile your bot is. In this case, it's better to go after less-popular farm areas.

For 3), plugins aren't typically needed for farming unless you're wanting some extra functionality such as:
Guild Bank usage, Mammoth Usage, Stealth usage, anti-combat, etc.
If you're using the "Questing" botbase to farm with, then most of this stuff can be hardcoded directly into the profile without the need of a plugin.
But if you're using a botbase such as GatherBuddy, then you'll need the plugin.

Unfortunately, I don't have any recommendations to point you towards right now for actually farming herbs.
I get all of my gold from questing. Questing isn't really a good solution for gold farming though, but I personally do it because the ban risk is much much lower.

Also, it may be worth noting - Blizzard is going pretty hard on herb/ore botters right now.
You absolutely must be prepared for the farmer to be banned if you farm too much.

Thank you for the information and plugin names. That'll help as opposed to blindly searching. I'll be going the gatherer method. Herbs and raw gold. Or just one. Haven't decided which is more lucrative yet. I am on a 'medium' population server. However I do not mind being banned. My only goal with the bot is to sell off enough gold to pay for my subscription and set a little aside for when the bot does get banned and buy a new account.

I honestly just roll DKs over and over and make a decent amount just from questing em to max, then start a new one. Seems to be a lot safer since I have as of yet been hit by a banwave

Hehe, DK? Remember, I am completely green to this game. I do not know the acronyms.

Death Knights, they start at a higher level lets you skip the annoying extreme low level grind that pays nothing
