New to botting, what to think about?

Okay so I'm just about to buy the HB Bot and I want to know as much as possible for the least chance to get banned.

Just to let you guys/girls know I'm just going to use the HB Bot for leveling a couple of toons to 100 (mostly from 60-100 and 90-100) and not for gold making.

Should I buy myself a VPS so that I can get my account back easier if it would get a ban or isn't it that necessary?

While waiting for answears I'll be reading the other forum threads for more tips and such.

you don't need an vps or an vpn if you are just using it for lvling with just 1 account.
lvling is easy to be done and 95% afk.

tips aran't really needed.
the only thing I could think about is bot when you usually should play

All I can suggest is that you read. Read a lot. In fact, I don't think you could read too much. Look into addons like LogMeOut! and others that will keep your account safe.

You shouldn't need to use a VPN or proxy of any kind so long as you bot in moderation and never AFK anything that you haven't tested thoroughly already.

Honorbuddy is a great way to avoid almost any type of grind including leveling. If your like me, i leveled 2 toons to 90 in MoP and called it quit because of the grind. came back to the game and was introduced to HB and haven't looked back. Got slapped on the hands once for using BGBuddy. (i don't recommend botting BGs these days, especially since i see about 25% - 75% of battlegrounds consumed with bots(takes botter to know a botter ;D))

I mainly bot for achievements. (what?!?) yup... That being said, this Bot is great for fully afk botting, examples: leveling, archeology, pet battles, fishing, mount farming, reputation grinds, automated garrison botting, etc. I also use some of the "combat routines" for light pvp and raiding action. (my flex progression guild loves me )

Make sure you babysit while using a fully afk bot if you care about your account. I have people constantly targeting me or using the same bot beside me. If you bot lightly (my definition of lightly is avoid more than 2 hours of any "grind for gold" schemes and to stay away from bgs altogether,) you shouldn't ever see more than a minor account suspension, if you see anything at all.

To be honest, im not going to stop botting at this point, even if blizzard bans my 8 year old account.

My achievements while using Honorbuddy:
20k+ achievement points, 18 x 90+ bots on 2 accounts, amazing DPS warcraft log parses, a new hobby for programming

I have one question tho, I'm using the 1-100 Kickz bot and I wonder if there is anything that automaticly changes my profiles? Like 90-92 then u have to switch to 92-94 etc.
Any help appreciated!

Kicks 90 - 100 profile is near perfect, log onto a 90, click the 90 starting profile of your choice (horde or alliance), and it does the rest.

Welcome to the world of botting

Kick's profiles have an automatic switch built in that loads the next profile when the end is reached. EG if the bot reaches level 92 it will automatically load the 92-94 profile and so forth. It will even remember where it last stopped so if you kill the bot in between the next time you start it it'll just continue where it left off.

For levelling. set the bot to quest mode, select kicks profiles to level your char to 100. Tips, set your mount to typically the mount your class or you would typically use, sometimes on automatic I find my monk panda riding a skeleton mount and it just attracts attention (probably not).

Bot during times you would normally play, I use the questing bot whilst im working in the background so I can occasionaly flick over to check whats going on, I don't however leave it running 24 hour questing or over night as that's.......taking the piss really.

Try to avoid getting greedy and using grinding profiles, these just repeat a profile route and if you look at the ban section nearly all are because they are grinding or collecting resources.

I use the bot mainly for instance, LFR and HCs... use the ENYO bot along with a good routine and there are some really good routines for doing this, I actually cant be bothered to play manually anymore, the game is about advancing the char for me now rather than doing the perfect rotation manually.....and I prefer it that way.

Use a good routine for your char... Tuanha writes some good routines for levelling and for basic instance/raids...highly recommended for nearly all classes... When you get to more advanced raiding and HCs etc there are some really really good paid for routines (click on the buddy store icon) that do some serious DPS, healing and tanking.

Best advice I can give.. don't bot if you care about your account. That is not to say you WILL get banned.. but you could. Expect it to happen, and it won't hurt so bad if it does.

I would say read up on the bot and how it works. Know the difference between questing and grinding. Don't expect miracles. Start slow, perhaps with a new toon. Just to see how it goes. Don't bother with custom routines from the start. In fact, don't mess with any plugins or anything right away. Once you are completely comfortable with how things run, dealing with crashes, etc then you can step up to new bot bases, plugins, etc.

Also, have a plan. What do you want the bot to do for you? Are you just leveling characters? I would absolutely 100% recommend using Kicks profiles. There are others out there that work well too, I am just familiar with Kicks. When you are ready to move into custom routines, research them. There are some really great ones out there. But also, Singular works very well. Don't feel you NEED something better. Personally I use TuanHAs paid routines. They work great and are constantly updated. Something I do often is run the bot in "CombatBot" mode to test out settings with a combat routine.

If you are looking to pvp, I would recommend BGFarmer by Millz (paid). I've not had much experience with any other so I can't speak on them. Gold farming I can't speak on either because I don't do it. The only thing I can say is cooking/fishing mats are selling real well right now.

If you are like me, you will become obsessed with botting I find myself often just watching the bot run. More so than actually playing. Frankly I'm addicted to HB. I love seeing what new things it can do.

Alright so thank you everyone for your nice comments!
My character have now hit level 100 (91-100) and it took me about 20 hours and I didn't encounter a single problem, I'm very happy with the results so I will most likely keep on botting with Honorbuddy and purchase a lifetime license.
