Hi there,
I wanted to invest some money into new parts for my PC.
Those are the ones I've selected so far:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 6x2.8GHz / 9MB / 125W boxed
Mainboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO - AM3+
RAM: 16GB G.SKILL CL9 RipjawsX PC3-12800 KIT
Graphics Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti FPB, 2GB GDDR5
This built will be for everyday use, office work, games, as well as botting and some video rendering.
I had to decide between an Intel i5 2500K 4x3.3GHz and the Phenom. Although I really like the performance of Intel's i-series, I still think that the 6-core setup (even without overclocking to 3.3 GHz) will get better results. I chose the cheapest 2 GB graphics card with an nVidia chip, as I experienced heavy problems, especially with older games, when I had my ATI 6550 (and the 5860 respectively). Some might say, I should even go for 32 GB RAM, but I don't really see the need for this, as 4x 8GB RAM would triple the price and won't be used effectivley by Windows anyway. One might also argue, that Windows could not handle 6-cores, still I hope for a better multi-core support coming with Windows 8. I don't have anything special to say about the mainboard. I selected this one, because it supports up to 32 GB RAM (just in case I wanted to upgrade this one day) and natively support the Phenom II X6 CPU.
Last, but not least: This setup would cost a total of EUR 500.
What do you think about this setup?
Thanks in advance,
