So today while at school I went to go to the honorbuddy forums while sitting in science class. I soon realized they had now blocked thebuddyforum.com. This ticked me off but, I then decided I wanted to check on my bot and they blocked my plugins website now too.

I have heard of ways to get past this using web proxies however I have no idea what a proxy is other than to show a different ip than usual.

Any suggestions?

P.S. I have an A in the class and technically I really don't even need to take the class anyways for those of you who were going to say "Pay attention".

Thanks,
Brayden

you can always do a VPN tunnel out, to your connection at home, depending on how much they lockdown the OS at your school, im sure once your schools admin catches on he or she will do something about it though, although its unlikely.

I just got the same thought yesterday, did some research and found "Hotspot shield" I tried it today in geography class, and worked great! :) will add link in a sec
Hotspot Shield

Get a laptop with an aircard = problem solved. Or try Logmein or teamviewer and surf on your home PC.

I have an aircard and a mifi. Our school is fairly new and has something on it to prevent us from getting cell phone service so I doubt this would work.

come to think of it, somehow idk, if your science teacher submitted the link or what, but some where along the line your drew attention to the forum, since i kinda doubt the network admin of your school manually watched your traffic, unless the company they pay for their blacklist added it, and if that would be the case im sure more schools and businesses would have it blocked as well.

yea, theres copper meshes they can put in the walls, and even special paint that can kill cellphone and wifi signals, or just good old center block .

A lot of school/business blacklists will have a gaming category. I have been blocked at companies where i know buddyforum is not specifically added to the block list but gaming in general is blocked. I know because we are in charge of the lists :) Also a lot of school/business content filtering will have a whitelist not a blacklist so anything not on the list is blocked, or uncategorised sites are blocked. Just use teamviewer or similar to play on your home pc.
Manually creating a vpn wont always work either. Some places will only allow ports 80 or 443 out from client machines so 1723 for standard pptp vpn's won't work.

My old high school used to do this, we would simply put proxy into our website's configuration and it would work, we might have to use a few and sometimes google would be in russian or go very slow but it worked lol, why not use your smart phone anyway

I have thebuddyforum.com blocked on my schools internet, but buddyforum.de works. Try that :)

Looking forward to seeing the law suit on their hands when someone does something stupid in the school (gunman, drugs, rape, something), and nobody can call out because of a wireless blocker.
