New cooler on 6970 = full lock up when botting?

Hey guys,

So, my GPU (sapphire radeon 6970) was running a little hot with 4 bots open and arma 2 (Around 80-90c). I upgraded the stock cooler to.. Newegg.ca - ARCTIC COOLING ACCEL-X3 Fluid Dynamic VGA Cooler

I installed it, and started playing Saints Row to test it out. No problem at all, running 30c lower than stock. I'm happy. So I start up the bots.

Minutes later, the computer is in full lock. I had Speccy open to see the temps, it was running only at 50c at the crash time. Anybody have an idea?

Things to note..
I am not crossfiring
Build:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Intel 3.06 i5 series
12gb trip-channel corsair vengeance ram
1000W psu single rod
sabertooth x57
~12 fans

Could be that your cooler isnt cooling the ram right. From what I remember it only reads the temps on the GPU core. not the ram. Just my guess. I'm installed arctic coolers in some of the builds I've done. But none in the last year so couldn't tell you how they are now.
