I'm aiming for around 5 bots on this machine. My current specs are:

i3 530 @ 2.93 GHZ
GTX 550 Ti
4gb RAM

The only thing I know is that RAM should be upgrade, but up to how much?

is it a dedicated comp for botting? do you intend to use the computer while the bots are running, and if so doing what?

Probably intend to do other things as well. Using Photoshop or just simply browsing the web that's about it. I do intend for the PC to handle those bots comfortably.

2 bot, 3 if you push it, you need to upgrade the ram to 16 gb, very important.

I want to push it to 4 at the minimum actually. Besides for RAM is the video card and processor alright? Any other additional info needed before I make the upgrade?

not an expert on hardware, but youre going to need at least 8gb ram and i think its pretty likely you need to upgrade your cpu and video card too.

if you have the money spare you might as well buy a new computer

I'll upgrade the processor to an i7 3770k but am unsure about a good graphic card choice, anyone have any suggestions? Besides for just the RAM CPU and GPU is there anything else I should consider? Sorry I'm quite illiterate when it comes to computer parts.

You idealy want a i7 if you can afford the new ivy bridge even better, graphics card should be alright fire down all the d3 settings u will need 16gb + as the guys are saying,
restrict each d3 with FPS locks and make sure your graphic card is set to vsync off.

Thanks guys I went ahead and got another pc since I had the funds for it anyway. New specs are:

i7 3770k
gtx 560 Ti
16 gb RAM
SSD

Can this go beyond 4 bots comfortably? Also r0sc0 or anyone else can you please clarify how do I FPS lock D3?

I5 is shit for what he wants to do, i7 all the way! Fps in the video settings in Diablo. If its setup right ul get a nice amount especcialy on that chip :-)

yes this will be fine. fps settings are in the video settings in diablo 3. "limit background fps" or something

3770k is unlocked and the 3750 is not.
Also it has more threads and the list goes on.

I would get the Get the gtx 670 FTW or 660 FTW.
I currently have 2 670s FTW and 32 gb of DDR3.

That's quiet an overkill ;D. If you just bot D3 you dont need that much GPU power. i7 is that what you want because of HT. Another advantage is that i7 CPU are supporting virtual processing like VMware if you want to set your bots up like this.

ya I reccomend the gtx 670 FTW or 660 FTW(costs alot), 16gb+ of memory, I7 and an SSD.

yup left the k out on accident. It was more as to the aspect of a i5 vs i7 in reference to running 4-5 bots. since I know he intends to run more possibly it makes sense for i7 simple I know what is locked and unlocked.. you dont have to explain, I think the difference of emphasis on i5 vs i7 would have been your commenting. that and spending the money on a 3750k vs 3750 ? if you have to ask for help I doubt you know much about over clocking, so it being unlocked is practically irrelevant (not that OC has not been made dumb easy any more...) just saying

The only emphasis I was making if it is to stay within a budget and expense was something to consider... people have been using the i5 3750k with no issues of getting 10~ bots... there is no point in spending the money on a i7 unless he intended to be running quite a few more bots and/or will be doing heavy video editing or rendering of stuff. If he is a graphic artist and uses Photoshop for what it is capable of, yes get a i7. but if its a bootleg cheap alternative to paint ... just get a i5. money saved on a CPU that is capable of doing the same thing as the other for what he is asking, is money that can be saved, or better spent else where such as a better mobo and/or video card.

Alot of people just buy a i7 because it is top of the line and dont understand the difference.

It is 100$ difference, to some when building a system that is a big difference. its almost 50% more
