Want to be able to run them with an edited d3pref and to run them flawlessly. It will not be used for anything else and it must be an AMD processor. I already have the gfx card. Budget it $300-$400

What would you guys suggest?

everyone has a different opinion regarding whats best, and with that budget, your going to get a p.o.c.

i use AMD PHenom x2 550 ( unlocked in B50 X4 ) 3.1 Ghz , 8600 GT 256mb ddr 3/128 bits , 8 gb ram ddr 3 - works 4x bots flawless (without d3prefs , with d3prefs editet sucks :) ) so any amd better than mine will handle 5 bots flawless ( my cpu stay in 90% because of low vga)

a friend of mine is using this setup for 4 bots

q6600 40€ ~
asus pq5 40€~
4x2 gb ddr3 25-30€~
gtx 460 40€~

my old i7-950 runs 5 now at 30-40 % cpu usage and 9 of my 24gb ram, adding more bots soon , i also don't even have the mipbias thing changed so i can still look at them and not feel blind

just for comparison

Amd 6 cores can flawlessly run up to 8 instances of d3(it can actually run more, but tends to be a bit laggy if not dedicated), i have been running 5 on AMD fx-4100 (4core) Zambezi (older than Vishera) with no problems at all after a slight OC. But for that budget, you can get yourself a nice 6 core cpu:

Newegg: AMD FX-6300 Vishera $139.99
Newegg: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3 $79.99 if u like simple old school bios setups
or
Newegg: ASRock 970 EXTREME3 $84.99 if u fancy UEFI bios setups
Newegg: Memory- any one of these or similar will do. ~ $85
Newegg: Zalman CNPS10X OPTIMA Heatsink $34.99
Newegg: Tuniq TX-2-EX Thermal grease $10.99
Needless to say, get a cheap 500w 80% rated PSU and a cheap case that has good airflow and comes with at least 2 fans. Mine costs 28 Euro and is killer.

With this heatsink and thermal grease you will be able to OC that particular CPU/MOBO combo to 4.8/5 Ghz without any trouble. Got the exact same setup made for a friend and he uses it OCed for 8+ bots with no problems at all.

my amd 6core can run 5 bots max.

it's always the same problem here: some user already have the knowledge to go deeper into the settings and optimize their machines.
those are always the user that post "i run XY amount of bots on my old pc". But they don't tell what exactly is needed to do this... ;)

except the well known topic of the d3prefs no one here wants to share a exakt guide how to lower cpu usage,
only stuff like playing around with some trinity settings and recommend noobs to OC their system (O.o)

and even the D3prefs you find here are big question mark.

no one knows how much cpu usage they save. i use them too, but i have no clue (like many others here) if they fit perfect.

Different opinions? Sure. But component performance can be measured. The 6000 line is the highest cost/performance CPU on the market right now.

take a q6600, something like that, they r pretty cheap if u buy them used. there are many boards where u can buy them cheaper as on ebay, -> hardwareluxx.de/community is like one of them, but a german one..

that they can, but cost/performance is comparing that 1 part right? to do slightly more than what its capable of doing you need an entire 2nd system... personally when it comes to computers i dont min max with cost. intel fanboi here obvi

i will admit, and have, that i dont use even half of my cpu, but its also 3 years old and havnt needed to upgrade yet

I don't quite understand what you're trying to say, but as far as min/max with cost, that's the entire point of botting for the majority of people. To make the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time. Therefore, getting the cheapest hardware with the best performance is entirely in our interest.

For the record, I am also an intel fanboy.

My setup is proven, even if you do not know how to tweak it, it will still run 8 bots on a dedicated pc. I believe that's about the cheapest you can get. Of course, if you look hard, you may be able to find these parts cheaper, especially in the US.

idk, just to me it seems odd to save $100 on a cpu, when everything else is still going to cost about the same, i'm talking entire rig tho... say you could fit 5 bots on a $500 comp, or 8 bots on a $800 computer, its still $100 per bot but in order to run more than 5 i picture it as needing 2x $500 pcs ... restricted to 5 from the beginning right now im not restricted and just expand when i dont have anything else to blow $50 on lol --- even though you could probably run 15 on said $800 machine

he said he needed amd anyway tho so that is the best path

If yo have 6300 Vishera, you are doing something wrong. Default settings with 8 gb ram, it runs 6 games pretty flawlessly. There is no point in explaining step by step what to do. It has already been done and it never leads to anything good. Just google it. You need to tweak windows for performance. You need to overclock your cpu and possibly memory. You need to turn off all tree-hugger shit in the bios. Not that hard. I also did not know how to do it at some point back in time, but i sat on my ass and researched and tried, so i eventually figured it out. From there on it is just patience and experience.

You can run way more than 5 bots on a 500 dollar pc. On a 800 dollar pc you can run 12. AMD fx 8350, i am running one at home right now. All you change is the cpu and 32 gb of memory instead of 16. Astock 970 extreme 3 supports all amd CPUs, including the 8 core ones.

aaron913, MipBias got to be either 5.999999 or 9.999999

i changed it, i didn't notice much other than it smearing images, ill resort to that when I add more I suppose

those bots / $100 was just an example :/

can't run 15 on any machine, not enough cpu - those that tell you otherwise are liars.
