A few days ago I found myself being unable to login to wow, even battle.net didn't recognise my details.

After a lot of emails to blizzard, it's become obvious that my account has been hacked. What makes me even more furious is that i've logged on with one of my other accounts and watched him use my 80 DK to farm ore for hours. I'm assuming he's probably using GB.

Still waiting for Bliz to respond to my request to hand the account back.

It infuriates me to know that somebody here is using MY account to farm. Thief. I want to cut your balls off and feed them to you.

I've spotted many hacked accounts who use the GB Profiles flying the exact same route as the one i use.

Then it has to be GB or else our exact profiles are used on the other programs :)

Hackers seriously deserve to be hung -.-

I know WoW is a game and all, but considering the amount of time some people put into it (some more than 700 days /played). If an account like that gets hacked, it's basicaly worse than stealing 10 brand new lcd TV's from Wallmart. Alot worse even :/

Some would even call their WoW accounts their life's work xD Not me though, just saying it's not a petty crime to some :d

I remember some poor kid even killed himself a year back or so when his account got stolen, so sad :<

Sorry to say this but how did you got hacked?

For that he must know your Accountname and your Password and for that are only some ways like

1 a trojan/virus on your PC
2 a phishing mail you responded to
3 a Friend whon knows your login and password

so I ask how the heck does someone catch a trojan/ phishing sites with a good virusscanner and firefox+WOT+addblockplus?

I have NO idea how i got hacked. I'm careful about links i click on, i have up to date AV, i always delete those standard "blizzard" emails, no i don't spend all day on porn sites thanks lightingthunder (based on your spelling of 'lightning' I'll assume you're a child, therefore i'll leave the wanking up to you....why are your replies always so provoking ??).

It's a bit of a mystery. I'm in the process of getting it back but still not happy.

i have up to date AV.

that's why you got hacked. anti-virus can't always block viruses. some go into a network port from another computer and spread that way, but i'm not sure someone would do that with a keylogger for WoW...

blizzard doesn't ever ask for your account information, so don't replies to e-mails like that, or tells in-game.

Unlucky. Just know that you'll get it all back. I'm also a computer literate person and never click dodgy links, am not a retard when it comes to AVs, I'm doing a degree in software engineering and have a pretty good understanding of things. Yet somehow, they got me once.

I just ran a full scan using SuperAntispyware and the only thing it found was "Gezda/Gaggle Variant Worm". Maybe that was the culprit

Hmm, that's odd for you to say that, did you even read what he said?

Aaaanddd

Your logic makes no sense.
Okay June kid, I'm glad you could write an entire post to flame me to get your post count up and not even attempt to help this guy.

My logic does not fail. AV is a terrible Anti-Virus program. If you couldn't comprehend that, it also proves my point that stupid people shouldn't reproduce, because they end up with fuck-ups like you.

On a better note to the OP, you'll get it back if you tell Blizz. If the hacker gave any gold away, Blizzard will restore it, but it will take a lot longer than to restore you characters and items and such.

First off the only *SAFE* computer is one thats not plugged in.

Nnow with that being said... I will repeat a VERY common mistake as well as its STUPID SIMPLE fix...

*USE AN ISOLATED EMAIL ACCOUNT FOR YOUR WOW/BATTLE.NET ACCOUNTS* What this means is you should have a seperate email for EVERY battle.net account you have. USE THESE ACCOUNTS ONLY FOR the battle.net account it was setup for. DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE EMAILS for ANY OTHER PURPOSE. This means do NOT use the same email on this or any other site on the internet that you visit. Some of you are probably going " I do that already..." but honestly you KNOW you don't. YOU use the SAME emails AND the SAME PASSWORDS for every site you visit. Can you see a problem?

With this being said (for the well i lost count...) take it in and fix your issues NOW. I would suggest creating new emails for your battle.net accounts and change those that way its fresh and unused anywhere else. AND DO NOT USE the same passwords that you use anywhere else. I am sure some of you are like "I already do that..." which is great, but I can pretty much guarantee that those of you being hacked even recently use the same emails AND same passwords on everything you do on the net. And don't even start to lie about it.

Ok, nuff said... Back to cleaning and packing...

not to take sides or anything .. but guy, you just told someone that viruses can spread through a "network port" - and furthermore, that antivirus software doesn't detect something of that nature (which is called a worm by the way, not a virus).

so, please .. do the world a favor and hold off on reproduction for now.

exactly, i'm saying that is a possible reason for getting hacked.

i didn't know the name of it, guy, but that doesn't measure my intelligence level. the firewall on the router or modem should detect the worm, but sometimes there are brilliantly designed code, but i doubt someone would take it that far with a keylogger for WoW.

i was listing a possible reason, so calm down, no need to get mad there.

also, telling me to hold off on reproduction? you can't even spell "liquid" right. it's not spelled "likwid".

you should listen to your own advice, sir.

Firewalls deny access to specific ports on a network based on rulesets. Firewalls do *NOT* detect viruses/worms/any other type of malicious code. -1 point for you.

I'm not the slightest bit angry. Just stating facts, and helping to fend off misinformation. -2 points for you.

You're the one who said idiots should not reproduce. Of course I know how to spell liquid. Ever heard of being creative? I guess not, "ghettofleck". -3 points for you.

You lose.

Actually, there is a way to stop malicious code getting from into your router, businesses do it all the time. Maybe not in the white trash town you live in.

And it's not possible to be a judge and a contestant at the same time. So you can shove those negative points up your ass.

If you think spelling your name differently is creative..
it's not, it's just gay. Try originality.

+ i dont think that porn sites gives a keylogger to keylog a Wow account.. Lol..

I told ya.. the only account thats safe is the account with a simple password.. i bet that a brute force program will never ever think of ole123

Mad drama lols.

A brute force program would easily be able to guess ole123.
