Mounting during combat. Why?

My character is a Ret Paladin, using combat bot, singular combat routine...

When I'm attacking stuff, sometimes my toon mounts up right in the middle of the fight. Does anyone know why it is doing this and how to make it stop?

I cannot find a setting for it and want to disable it. It looks really odd when you are with a group.

Thanks

I think it is just to show dominance to your enemy.

I have been away from WOW for several years. I didn't even realize there was a Devine Steed spell nor did I understand what it's function was. After review, I see that this is a normal function and there is nothing odd about it happening now. Thank you (all of you) for your replies.

As Azuyre mentioned, Divine Steed is now a typical Paladin ability, so it is common seeing Paladins randomly casting mounts in combat.
This ability can also reduce how much damage you take by 20% if you have the talent, so it is used even while standing still just for the damage reduction.

You can turn this off in the "Class Config" options but this option only applies to Protection Paladins.
Retribution Paladins will still cast the ability. To turn it off for Protection Paladins, a toggle for it should be under the "Protection" category.
