I was wondering what you guys think would be better for champion farming in Inferno? I plan to make a monk/barb to farm champions for when the game cap is added so I need some opinions and hopefully explanations!
I hear barbarian is very promising but not sure why?

Honestly, I thought a melee character was going to be the way to go, for champion farming. So Ive been botting a monk for a few weeks now. Not AMAZING gear, but she does fine.
My main is a DH, and I feel like you would be better off on the DH in act 1. Just kill the monsters before they get to you with enough DPS.
I guess if your choice is barb or monk, id go barb.
But I think DH is still going to be the better than anything else.

I am playing on my Monk now, with 1.1k resistance, 50khp and shitpoor dps 9k and I am doing fine, except for when I meet shit like Horde with Arcane Enchanted, or just normal elite packs with Frozen, Arcane Enchanted, Molten and Desecrator. Those combos just means instant death.

I am really uncertain of what melee class would be the best, but my bet would be that Barbarians are superior to Monks. Revenge coupled with good mitigation is just godly.

The ultimate question would be what class is the best overall. I am not certain, but ranged with good dps is probably the correct answer.
Act 2 elite farm I have no idea about, only Act 1.

with 50k hp and 1.1k resistances, you could kill any elite pack in act 1 with any class with 1k dps...If you're dying in act 1 to anything with 1.1k resistances, you are doing something very wrong

Sorry. You are wrong.
The damage from 4-5 Arcane Enchanted on top of each other is not something that is suppose to be tankable.
Especially not with molten / frozen on top of it.

Why is this thread/poll in the profiles section?

My bad :P if it could get moved to the general forum I would be happy. Anyways, the general consensus for people who have responded is barb but the poll is pretty even, almost 50/50 with monk barely winning

This shouldnt even be a question, whirlwind/tornado barb wins by a long shot. They can run around the entire map at 160% movespeed whilst still killing elites (without doing anything but running). Ive got a WW barb that I spent maybe 2 mil on, and it happily farms act 2 inferno with 180% magic find. I get an inventory full of ilvl 62's and 63's every 20-30 mins :) Very profitable, made a good 20m today doing it

Hint: Desolate Sands -> get 5 stacks -> Go to Vault of the Assassin (has about 7/8 rare mobs in there)

The bot can't do the WW/sprint shit can it? I am talking from a botting perspective. I am not interested in farming with a dumb barbarian manually.

I would say barbarian. Because you can get away with way cheaper gear then the monk. A pretty good barb is under 10mil that wont die with low MF(50-100%) but try to find a item build with the same survivability and the same MF under 10mil for a monk. Impossible. So if you are going to do act1 champ farm on lets say multiple accounts, id say Barb. But if you already have a decent geared monk, its no idea to change to barb.

Well I've only really champion botted on my barb and it's pretty golden, but he has some nice gear (it's my main). With 1100 AR, 20K dps, 11k armor and 53k hp he doesn't die from anything, and there's some pretty good mid-range gear out there for very low prices. Gonna try monk soon though, getting him up to 60 now, looks fun!

Yea I can do the gear part... It's the spec... I have no idea how to spec him for it. Just played a barb since the beginning

Monk no doubt about it , more expensive ti gear , but i did buy act 1 inferno gear for 300k minus the weapons.... getting 1,1k resist tons of hp and no dps is totally wrong , u need to get around 25-30k dps then u wont need resists... i got 550 resists and i rape thoose packs quick with 32k dps , noone can tank Arcanes ( they ignore Resists btw) but i tank molten , desecrator plagued with 0 Deaths , only packs with arcanes + 1 other ground thing i will die to if they stack on eachother otherwise i will kill them with no death....

The main reason is that ppl dont know how to gear their heroes , and yes u can do this without spending 20mill

Zinisterz, is there any way you could help me? I am struggling with my barb to farm act1. I thought I had decent gear, but I just get owned hard. Even just looking at my gear would help.

Why dont you post a 1million challange like i did. I think it would help ALOT of people to understand how to build there monks.

You got my 1 million challange for barb here.

It's not hard at all to gear a monk for Act 1. The one with everything talent is huge. If you need extra DPS, the enchantress can easily do an extra 5 or 6k dps (stacking int.) on the cheap.

My monk cannot seem to survive the molten / arcane lasers on some elites especially if they have invul. affix since LOH and lifesteal don't really work. I have almost 1k resist and crit for 23k~ dmg 25% of the time.

I think a barbarian would be better at surviving the insane affix elites, but a monk is better at chopping them down faster.

My wizard is actually super tanky. I am running a critical mass build. It uses Frost Nova at 99% hp , chain reaction at 97% and diamond skin at 95%. The no cooldown spell is Energy Twister - wicked winds. The only reason I ever die is due to poor combat routine on DB's fault. It doesn't ever use health potions and won't use Diamond Skin while frozen. I am buffed enough to handle a few arcane without dieing and even take 4 molten explosions at once. It really is just being frozen that is the main problem. Plus, I imagine I do way more damage than the majority of barbs and monks. The frost nova keeps everything frozen most of the time vs elites.

can any1 post a fitting skilltree for Monk Act1 Farming? :)

M?nch - Spielguide - Diablo III

you stack crit/crit-damage or just as much as dex/life/res/def as possible + decent weapon?
Life on Hit?

Why even say barb? My monk 20k hp 30k dps 800 loh 200% MF (with templar) 700 allres is clearing everything insanely fast it dies sometimes but it's worth it
(it dies at savage beasts only)
