A macro bound to a key on your bar is a pretty efficient way of getting this job done. Another "legal" solution is using Enchantirix, part of the Aucitoneer addon suite. It has an automation feature that watches your bags for items that can be milled, prospected, or disenchanted. Personally I use a ProfessionBuddy Profile that will prospect my ore for me. Just change the bot to Professionbuddy, load the profile, click start, and go make a sammich. In Cata there was a pretty sweet p[rfile that would get ore from your mail box, prospect it, buy jc settings from the vendor, craft JC items from your green quality gems and then either mail them to an alt to be disenchanted or post them on the AH. I keep meaning to get around to updating it for MoP, but stay too busy with school.
