Hello,
I have a big problem! I can not download the mesh files for navigation. My problem is I live at school and they block a number of ports. Does any know how I can download the full worlds .etm mesh files? Or could someone post a copy of there files? I really need the files, I cant bot with out them. Just look for you login name on a folder, it should tel you the location of the files in HB.

Thanks so much!

My understanding is that the new *.etm mesh files are encrypted and bound to your account. So, asking someone else to upload them will do you no good whatsoever, as you would need their account details to provide an encryption key to use them.

You might see if you can use a VPN tunnel to get through your school's firewall. Just google for a provider--many are free.

cheers,
CJ

Yes I have used a vpn server but the free vpns dont always give you the same ip. I used a vpn for some time but my account needed to reset its password every time. I payed for this bot and it should work. I should not need to risk my account with a free vpn and I should not need to pay for a vpn just to download some files to make it work. If they are encrypted could a Dev plz help me. I really want this to start working.

Thanks again!

the bot does work. its not our fault that you can't access a port. call your school admin and have them free up that port

The bot is working fine. The fact that the school you go to is blocking the information needed has nothing to do with what you "feel" should be done about the situation. I for one am glad they encrypt that information if that is in fact what they do. Pay to tunnel or don't it's that simple.

^^ or pay for non-school internet

So my new question is how can I download the full world at ones. So I dont need to be constantly connected to a vpn server? Could I create a profile that covers the world and then it would need to download the full worlds mesh files?

you can do that, as long as the world files don't change. but since hb doesn't support flying, good luck

you'll need EK, Kalimdor, BC, LK, Cata

The only way I know to download a *lot* of mesh files, but not all of them is 'hacky' at best. You do something like go stand in Darnassas, then write a very simple grinding profile that wants to be in Silithus (other end of the continent). Honorbuddy will download all the files needed to calculate the path for you to walk/ride from Darnasses to Silithus. You will miss a few zones, but it will get a lot. If you do that a few times with strategic locations, you'll eventually pre-fetch all the zone files.

Sorry its such a horrible way to do it, but its the only way I know.

cheers,
CJ

The above won't work. We do have some limits in place to stop people from downloading the entire world in 1 go. (There's no reason you should need it all)

We won't be changing the way we download the meshes, because only *you* are running behind a school's firewall. I suggest setting up a proper proxy on your rig, to constantly be behind a VPN. Other options are to google for other solutions (Such as sandbox environments) to only run HB within a certain internet configuration.

I know it sucks, but unless your school opens up the port for you, there isn't much that can be done unfortunately.

anyone else finding that its downloading during an instance and causing huge amounts of lag? I have a pretty rubbish connection to begin with mind lol
