Did quite a few searches and can't seem to find a solid solution to the problem. Everytime I start HB it says it is downloading mesh files, but after waiting about 30 minutes I check the mesh directory and there is only one file in it.

I have deleted HB and the Mesh folder several times, and opened the ports or disabled the firewall completly with no luck. After checking the log file it just isn't communicating with the mesh server.

This isn't a problem on just one character/server/zone... all combinations have been checked. And yes I am running HB in admin mode.

Suggestions?

At first I would think that it is blocking communication 100%, but sometimes it does download a file or two then just starts timing out... This makes me think it isn't a firewall or port problem. Could be wrong.

i get a similar sort or problem

delete your kalimdor mesh folder.

also make sure port 5031 port is allowed to be downloaded from (as it looks like its blocked)

Already done, sometimes it does download... sometimes it doesn't. Tried deleting and still no luck.

Open to any other suggestions.

tried a ne Hb installation from scratch?

file a bug report, and one of the devs will look into it and email you back when its fixed (or respond to you in the email directly) (bugtracker is linked in the official hb thread)

edit:

oops, tony and i were posting at same time.

try his first :)

Yeah I tried a new installation. Will shoot a bug report now. Thanks for trying.

Ok so did a bug report. But I noticed today it had no problem downloading the meshes at like 3am server time... Could it be that the mesh server is just really bogged down and I am getting timed out because it's that slow?

yes (slow or temporary not accepting new connections; probably the latter)

disable firewall/antivirus(if any) and try again

Did both, was wondering if this is a isolated problem or not? Never had a problem with communicating with the mesh server till recently.

Wonder if it has anything to do with upgrade to windows 7... =\
