Merged keys all have same expiry despite different purchase date

So how will the 2 year expiry work for merged keys, I bought 3 sessions over 2 years ago and 3 sessions under 2 years ago but on buddy auth they both have the original purchase date when merged. Surely you wont be expiring the newer keys?? How is this being handled?
