mage dps advice?

this mage was my first botted HB char.. had him for quite sometime.. he is one of 5 85's I have used HB with but he was the first and the best gear... he is 381 itemlevel arcane.. yet his dps isnt really that good. .I have used lazyraider for arcane and managed like 13k dps maybe up to 20k dps but then it falls back down to 13k.. and at my understanding... a mage with that item level should be doing better? not a mage expert.. he is enchanted and gemmed and reforged... though he use too have 17.10% hit chance.. I stopped playing for awhile when I came back his hitchance was somehow at %14 anyway I can sort that out by reforging gear again etc...


or would fire be best?

it seems arcane is just a burst of high dps for a little while.. then just falls down badly.. what affects me for raids etc.. as he is a noob FTW
I did try fire awhile ago.. but didn't see any difference.

Arcane was by far the best when Cata first came out, fire now if you can pull it off is better, it takes longer to build up dps but once you do u can cast while moving, you have amazing aoe and mana is easy to maintain, my favorite CC here is Pyromancer, there is a spec on the CC page and i use askmrrobot.com to reforge, make sure you reforge for fire or else it won't be much difference between it and arcane.

Well u pretty much just reforge to get your hit cap, do a little crit, about 4% then the rest haste, but I haven't had any problem with askmrrobot
