mage +7 heirlooms + amplify = dead mage?

Ok three days ago I decided to level up this gnome, got him fully heirloomed with 7 peaces ( head/shoulder/cape/chest/staff/trinket/trinket) Expecting this one to burst through qeusts and probably never die x.x, I Was completely wrong! I loaded up amplify at first, and it died loads, then singular, which died even more so switched back to amplify.

I am running the 1-60 qeusting profile by nuok, am level 42 now and have died a gazzillion times, slowing down my leveling speed by allot. What is the cause of this??

Anyone experienced with mages 1-60? is it my spec? (Frost specced)

or do mages just simply suck? Cause that is what im starting to think now (Atleast at 85 they own)

Same here.. my mage got stuck at lvl 9 with like 150 deaths over a night .... (with the new HB and Singular)

I've never seriously leveled a mage, whether hand playing or botting but my friends tell me they are one of the hardest classes-with the most deaths-to hand level.

Posts I've seen during my time here on the forum seem to back that up and the general consesus is that they are one of, if not the, hardest class to bot level.
 
Yea, but they shouldn't be when equipped with 7 heirlooms should they? My frostbolts kill mobs in 3 hits, but as soon as 2-3 mobs get on me, im toast because hb simply wont kill them fast enough x.x
 
weird

my mage can handle 3 creeps with amplify easy... freeze, sheep etc

A frost mage should easily be able to handle 3 mobs and more....

But yeah, clothies are extremely hard to bot... I've found that botting plate wearers is 100 times easier and even mail wearers are pretty okay. But rogues and clothies are too fragile by far.
 
seems kinda weird to me. i know that before this release HB was stalling a few seconds between kills if multiple mobs were atttacking at once. But even with that i leveled a mage (frost spec) from 1-85 in the last 3-4 weeks using amplify and only chest shoulder staff as heirloom. From what i saw amplify is one of the better cc's at detecting and controlling adds so it died very very few times. I know the above comments say otherwise but my mage was one of the smoothest bots i have leveled (right behind sham and warlock). I would check your profile to see where he is grinding/questing and if it is level appropiate. It may be that the profile is slightly ahead of itself and you are fighting high level mobs but otherwise i have no idea. Some profiles have built in "extra grind" sections before continuing questing for the more squishy classes i would find something like that.

Wish i could help ya a little more but it seems as tho you have everything set up ok and it should be running smoothly.

I can kill the 3 by hand with ease... I frost nova, sheep one, and nuke the other two. I can handle even more. Can you guys screenshot your setup? I have pretty much default settings atm since I am not to familiar with mages, I have botted 85's tho, one of which is a rogue, who died allot less then this mage.
 
im writing a profile and leveling 3 mages right now, all of them are working fine, yes there are alot of deaths, but that's to be expected, the main goal is that they get the objective done and move on to a place where they aren't dieing so often. if your picking grinding locations its a good idea to pick locations where the mobs are spread out that give amplify more room to work and get away from mobs, dealing with double pulls usaly arent an issue, but when you get that 3rd mob in thats when you start to have problems.

make sure you health and Mana rest settings are at 60% i found this works the best so it forced the rest behavior right after dieing.
if your low level considering going to the AH and picking up gear with more stam. the more heath you have the better, since ive never seen any of my mages run out of mana after cataclysm hit.
Go Frost, at level 10 the water elemental helps out tremendously just because your able to keep mobs away longer and killing most of them before they get to you.
Make sure Freeze! is enabled, you can find this setting in the frost tab, along with "Use Water Elemental"

crit is your friend any time you can pickup extra crit from the talent tree or armor do so, but not if its going to cost you more stamina

at level 34 immdately go train Molten Armor and change the setting "Armor Select" in amplify to use Molten armor, this will help with boosting your crit strike and will reduce overall damage.

Evocation is a good way of regening health as well as mana, but is somewhat useless unless you have it glyphed to regen health, its pretty useless, during low levels i have the HP setting at 0 and the MP setting at 30, changes are youll never fall below 30% mana but at least it wont be trying to use evocation to regen health -------this is a setting most people overlook.

Mana and health pots can be a real life savor is you have them, i have my health potion set to 20% and my mana potion set to 30% --- since this code is first it will use the mana pot before the evocation. ---- with the current build mana and health potions might now be working if they are working for you please let me know in the Amplify thread.
if it uses the potion you will see
Using {PotName} to Regen Health
and if a potion is found and ready to use it will spit out
Potion Found {PotName}

theres a lot of settings and things you can do keep your mage botting awesome, but most of them is being choosy about where your mage is and what its going to be doing.

hope this helps, if you have any issues with the CC please post them in the CC thread a long with a detailed description of the issue and a log.
 
I'm going to follow your advise precisely and I'll keep you updated on what happens, I agree on you with the dying part and as long as they get the job done its ok, but the fact that this guy is carrying 7 heirlooms on him should be enough to not get him killed. Equipping any other class with this amount of heirlooms will boost your leveling insanely and pretty much never die, I remember a very very long time ago, (Pre wotlk) when I used glider to bot up a mage, he barely ever died, no clue what settings/profile/task/custom class I had back then, but if it was possible back then, then im pretty sure it is possible now.

Ill keep you updated ;)

your talking about 2 completely different games from then to now. and yes mages still died a lot even with glider, and glider's CC's didn't provide nearly half of the features and utilities that i have provided.
 
I agree with you with the two complete diffrent games, but back then there was no such thing as heirlooms, and there was no such thing as qeusting with glider, that was just a mere dream back then. It is now possible, and like you said a whole bunch of new features in both cc and bot itsself, so why the hell die as often, or in my case more often even? I am just a bit confused.
 
oh and one last thing turn off use mount, turning it off makes your toon walk everywhere and make it fight to get to its destination. so if your destination is in a cave its going to fight its way there, and die less because its only taking on 1 mob at a time. rather then running in there on a mount and stopping 5 mobs in and dieing.
 
I had insane amounts of deaths on my mage aswell, woke up to about 234 deaths and had been stuck in a fence in ghostform for x amount of time (dont know, was afk lol!). But when I went arcane with Amplify it went much smoother, once you get a few talents in you do super pewpew dmg (especially nice with automatic slow on that main spell, dno whats its called). I went arcane at 30 :)

No heirlooms or anything like that :-)
 
Up your pull range as well, dont have it set to 20 when a mage can pull from 40yds
 
I think amplify mage is awesome profile. Disable blink -backpedal thatś it frost spec. And its totally diferent bot with hb and was glider with glider it was imposible to level up a rogue or a melee class for example

Go grind instead of questing - you'll level like hell.. (I am on my 7heirloom rogue atm)
