i have 5 wows running on 1 machine.. now to me i dont think its a bad spec machine. Here is my specs!!

Core 2 Quad 2.3ghz
4GB Ram
Nvidia GT120 HD
I have 2 monitors running from 1 card dont know if this makes a difference but i am maxing out on ram while running wow.. i have all clients running on low spec and macro'ed with /console maxfps 25 and /console maxfpsbk 15
but each client is using 500mb per client and cant seem to lower at all??

any ideas guys??

lol 500mb per client is about the lowest you're gonna get I think :P
That's already very low since I run at about 1,5gigs or Ram on ultra settings with 1650x1050.

If you're really that desperate to run more than 8 clients, upgrade your ram.

i used to get down to 250mb per client on my dual core but max cpu out on 5 clients lol

are you running a 64 bit OS that will use all 4 gigs of ram? it made a huge difference for me as i was stuck @ 3.5 gigs

250mb per client is crazy :O

this might be stupid but you didn't say anything about resolution, is it on 720x576 ?

A lot of multiboxers over at http://www.dual-boxing.com have had similar problems as most of them run 2 or more instances of WoW at the same time all the time. Somethings that they do that might help you out:

- Be sure to split up your WoWs to different cores of your processor so that the work load is split up evenly instead of bogging down just one core. WoW is suppose to be able to find the most suitable core to use, but it's been proven that it doesn't always do it properly so you might want to download some of the tools available to help do that.

- If you have a 64 bit OS or can get one, install it and get at least 6 gig of RAM. My first round with multiboxing was on a Dual Core system with a 32 bit OS and 3 gigs of RAM. I couldn't go anywhere near a major city without lagging out on one or more my toons. Second round was on 64 bit OS with an i7 processor and 9 gig of RAM. HUGE difference! Can run all 5 toons at max setting in Dalaran all day with no issues.

-If you have more than one hard drive, or can afford to install or pay for someone to install another one on your machine, run WoW from whatever hard drive your Operating System is NOT on. Not having to search the same drive as your Operating system will give you greater performance.

There's a ton more stuff over there about utilizing whatever specs your machine has to it's greatest potential. I'd say take a stroll over to their forums and check out some additional advice as I'm not gonna post everything over there since it's take me all day. Good Luck :)

get a new wifi adapter then. you'll notice the difference when you're running 8GB of ram.

Since your vid card already has 512Mb ram, your 32 bit OS is only able to use 3.5gb of your installed 4gb memory. So you have in fact much less then 3gb available for wow (when you calculate windows overhead). A 64 bit upgrade will make the most difference for you.

Lol not being able to use the full 4 gigabytes of address space isn't directly because of his graphics card, it's because of Memory Mapped I/O. That includes his graphics card, but also other hardware like DVD drives and Harddisks. Youre making it sound like because his video card has 512 MB memory, he can only use 4GB - 512MB = 3.5GB, which is not true.

Windows 7 will detect the 4 GB and will tell you you have 4GB (unlike Windows XP, which made people wonder because they really plugged in 4 gigs), but it will only be able to use about 3 gigs. This is because a 32bit operating system can only address 2^32 bytes, which is 4 gigabytes. A large part of that is reserved, which is why you can only use 3GB. A 64bit OS can use 2^64 addresses, which is about 17,2 billion gigabytes, and will not give you this problem.

tl;dr with 64bit you can use your whole 4GB (and a lot more if you had it) ram instead of being limited to 3GB.

Wow really, so if I put my games onto my 2nd hardrive (without Windows 7 on it) then it'll run better? These are some good tips I'll have to check out when I start adding more than one Wow on my bot computer.. that computer is running a 4870HD card, 6gig ddr2, and 2.6 duo core.

Yes they will run better because the disk will not be constantly used by windows for stuff like Search Indexing and you will have almost the whole disk for just your game. The only times you'll notice this though is when the game has to load data (like textures) from the harddisk, since these are copied to your computer's RAM and used from there. But since you fly through big areas while farming with GB, WoW retrieves a lot of data from your disk so yeah it's an improvement if you use it on a second hard disk, if it's an equally fast one or faster as your main disk :P

Yeah I'll throw a 2nd HD on my bot computer.. my main one is a 2.9 quad core with dual 4870HDs and 8gig ddr3.. but I guess I'll try it out. Where can I find out the speed of my HD? I just put in a 1TB 7200 RPM HD this weekend but the way my cooler master case is setup I didnt feel like taking out my other 1TB to see the speed of it, so where can I see which ones faster? Would be helpful for finding out the HD on this computer and my bot's.. thanks in advance.

Actually, that is handled by Windows. Thread scheduling handles balancing work for every thread running on a system on to all the cores of the CPU.
