Looking to learn to write my own Routines...

I've had a quick scout around the forum and i've found a couple of references to guides and such, but they are all more than 3 or 4 years old.
There is nothing on the wiki that I can see...

Are there any up to date guides? Do the 2012 guides still work properly and could I use them? I don't really want to spend my time learning outdated practices.

I've done some coding before, I've made some honorbuddy profiles in the past, but I'd like to try my hand at a combat routine, which will be freely available until I figure it all out haha.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

There's a lot of trial and error. Look at the one that shows how to write coroutines. That's the latest thing you can do.

You can look at my DH routine for any references as I started like you and have just found things here and there that helped me.
