Looking for advice about starting out.

Just hit 80 with my first character this evening using honorbuddy(woot!).. But I have no professional skills at all.. I experimented around with gatherbuddy when I was in the 20's and really wasn't optimized for low levels I guess, and found it got stuck a lot. So what do I do to raise my skill enough so I can flying mount these bad boys? Can HB run GB profiles for ground farming? I didn't see a profile section HB for herbing/mining unless I'm blind. Anyone have any advice or am I stuck hand leveling?

mining:

smelt until 230 (i smelt until 280) and then i go to BC and bot until 350'ish and then i go to borean and bot until 450

herbing ... well, GB starting profiles or HB and turn off kill between hotspots and pull radius 0 (there are lower profiles out there for herbing)

Hey thanks kick! so with smelting do you just buy ore out of the auction house and smelt it?

Another idea, particularly if you dont have enough gold to be spending on ores to smelt, is to get Carbonite from Carbonite Addon Link and use its routing features to manually level herbing/mining to 300. Once you get to skill level 300 you can use GB to level your skill the rest of the way to 450.

I'll have to give that a try.. I'm not familiar with the addon so I hope its not too confusing

i spent less than 300g per toon to get it up to 275 mining (via smelting). and yes, you buy ore from the AH or ppl in /2

you should have more than that if you HB'd to 80, lawls
