Diablo: IncGamers – The Unofficial Diablo 3 Site News and Forums ? Patch v1.0.5 Coming Later Today
REMINDER: BACK UP YOUR D3PREFS.TXT FILE BEFORE PATCH 1.0.5 - Forums - Diablo III

Tomorrow?s patch will cause for your game preferences to be overwritten the first time that the game is launched after patching to version 1.0.5. In order to avoid losing your in-game settings, you?ll want to back up your D3Prefs.txt file before patching. This file can be found in the following locations:

Windows 7/Vista:
Start Menu > Documents > Diablo III folder

Windows XP:
Start Menu > My Documents > Diablo III folder

Mac:
~/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Diablo III folder.

***This bug has been resolved in patch versions after 1.0.5, so backing up this file should only be necessary this time around***

why do we need to worry? what does it change?

Thanks for the tip, but...
30 seconds to backup and then load backup back.
Less than 1min to reconfigure diablo settings.
I think I have 30secs to lose today.

appreciate the tips but i dont think its a big deal. I rec'n the contents within d3pref.txt will be different since the introduction to monster power.

i thought thats what it meant, i didn't think it was about something very minimal

Thanks for the heads up. Its a pain in the ass to have to go dig out a monitor to hook up to my other PC just so I can put d3 back in to windowed mode.

my script overwrites it to load d3 with shit settings for my bots anyway

There are new options available from the menu on this patch, maybe they aren't available if you use your old settings, I'll roll the dice and reconfigure mine again, I have 30 seconds today.

seriously, it's not like there's really that many things to configure with this game... if you would spend the effort to dig, back up, then restore it, might as well just reconfigure it.
