Blizzard regrets buffing drop rates patch 1.05?

Too many items

I cover this topic in some depth in the upcoming Item Blog that community is in the process of getting ready for release next week. I will briefly say that we agree that too many items drop and we have plans to eventually reduce the rate that players see items, while also taking measures to improve the general quality of items you do see. The end result should be fewer items that are better instead of tons of items you don?t want.

I'm okay with this. 1 good quality item is better than 100 shitty ones. But it's Blizzard and they are good at doing everything wrong with Diablo 3...

I can't get my head around why they stall a launch of a Ladder.. I mean, it's a simple echonomy tool that stabalizes and ensures revenue for everyone.
And it's probably alot more fun for the common gamer as well.
When they introduce a ladder, I'm quite sure there will be alot more people interested to take part of the.. *caugh* challenge :D

What clueless bunch of headless chickens, tempering with this game back and forth... Manipulating item drop rates wont do a thing regarding Ah overflooding, problem is lack of item sink of any kind. With reduced drops it will just take longer till AH will be overflooded with any particular item. But i guess thats their new policy - cosmetic changes made by "team" of 2 ppl creating impression that they didnt abandoned this game, while all resources are being funneled into xpac and console port. Hard times are coming for d3...

Because Jay Wilson and D3 team was retarded and made so many missteps that it will be hard for them to admit they did anything wrong. A ladder system would be great, hell just look at the amount of success PoE is having with the HC races and such. Of course Blizz is too proud to admit that a group of underpaid nerds from New Zealand can beat their billion dollar operation. I don't really have much hope for this game.

Exactly... hell look at super low drop rate items like Mempo and IK chest... mempo below 500k, IK Chest dropped below 2m LOL. How is any casual supposed to sell ANYTHING on the market when even us 10+ botter folks sell anything? Like you said THEY NEED AN ITEM SINK. A bind on account system for all items is such a simple and straightforward solution but they are too proud to admit that. They'll say they discussed it for 50 hours at their round table discussion and decided against it because Gay Wilson said so.

I think an universal nerf of item drop will be a good thing. Remember diablo 2? Good items there are still worth money, because they are so hard to get. Drop in d3 is flawed in many ways, not to mention i believe it is controlled. For months botting 10+ chars i never had a mempo with critical, today i got 2 on different chars. The chances for that happening are so damn low, that it is actually irrelevant whether or not it is RNG, because it is so damn wrong. This kind of thing drives players away, where as a more consistent, but lower drop of items(at least good ones) will make people actually play more to get to that point.

Good items were shit in d2. People only wanted 20 20s pcombs and griffons with a few others here and there. If it wasnt perfect. It was basically worthless. Valks and other near extinct items. Luckily you could dupe them safely. At the end, Hrs were worth not even a cent basically. They should have brought back troll items like white ring n shit.

At the end only runeword related shit was worht something and those perfects you mentioned. Anyway, i am pretty sure listening to people and making everything random stats wasn't a good idea. But here we are and that's the deal, so i am looking forward to that nerf.

Not fussed, this wont be happening for many many months.

Yeah. And I wish this would happen sooner though because a critpo I found yesterday is only going to give me real 55 ish dollars.

Oh, so you found one too? I got 2 last night. ;p after 3 months of not getting even one :P

I got 189 dex 4.5 crit and 178 int 5 crit. There was one more, but no crit. This sounds particularly suspicious to me xD

I've never had a crit mempo. :( Blizzard's random is cruel sometimes.

I wonder why the thread is called so? that post was not about items alone, it was complex. Every person who has brains inside his head understnd that small changes (like drop rate) won't affect the current situation. Only complex of improvements\changes...

taking 5-6 weeks to maticulously log / track / and convict thousands of mule accounts on all 3 servers would pretty much do it in a little under 10 mins of hitting the switch. this is prolly my single biggest fear at the moment. it would be a game wipe w/o hurting the casuals feelings.

gold would rise dramatically as well as all items with the AH flood subsiding.

this game isnt very easy to farm in legitly. they know this am im sure they have people smart enough to understand this logic and are currently working on it.

something to think about i guess.

(it wont fix the fundamental flaws of the base game but then again they said they are working on that... it will however fix a majority of the economy)
