Hi!

I`ve been playing wow for a few years, and never used a bot for anything. Now I have my exams coming up, and thought I might try a bot for questing and geting my lvl 65 monk up to 90. When I play I usually play a few hours in the morning and a few at night; will replaceing my playing with a bot turn the lights on with other players or a GM if I just quest? Or is questing with the honorbuddy seen as a "low-risk"-botting?

:o

I've been botting for some time now and I usually run the bot as if I were actually playing the game. For us that only want to bot casually, and I am only speaking from my perspective, benefit from only doing it during times we would normally be playing but are sequestered elsewhere due to other circumstances. I tend to only bot a max of 10 hours a day, unless I plan on doing some myself when I get home. Also, I tend to go a day without using the bot or playing in general as to show some type of "human" interfacing. Now, there is nothing to say that your character wont get stuck on a mesh error and hump a valley on a mountainside due to something unfortunate as you getting killed and the bot trying to take the most efficient route back and jumping off a cliff into said valley. These are risks you need to be willing to take. Hope this helps!

little extreme jaladhjin you could have just said questing wont hurt too bad but the is a risk so dont get stupid with botting be smart and bot casually to lower risk but your never safe

I was in the same position and tried it, for most of the time its pretty hard to catch a questing bot unless you really look for it. You get stuck sometimes and small bugs apear so full afk is 100% more risky then sometimes just looking at the screen. Al in all it just saves you allot of time/energy in lvling your char. Just turn on the bot while your learning and look at the screen every 10 minutes to see if everything is ok, basically your doing 2 things at the same time.
If you play like that im pretty sure the ban chance is very very low and for me its worth the risk, simply wouldn't have the time to play wow without it and lets me do the fun stuff more then the boring time consuming stuff.

I also have the feeling that if you play a char properly (gear up, do instances/raids/pvp, switch chars now and then, mail stuff between chars on the same account, chat with mates) it helps allot against banning, but thats purely a feeling and has no facts whatsoever.

I'd say quest botting is the safest, and theres plugins to log off automatically when things go wrong. I've probably levelled around 50-60 toons to 85 and never had any suspensions/bans related to that. Your results may vary, but all in all its quite safe.

i've done two toons already via questing, i sit at my computer watching movies, playing other games or talking to people. Being able to respond to whispers when someone goes "lol nice running into a tree" i just go "lol woops, intense moment on walking dead"

Since The Burning Crusade expac Blizzard can no longer scan your computer for bots running.
The only way you can get caught botting is by someone seeing your bot doing something stupid and reporting you. (I'm not sure on wardens roll in this but I know Honorbuddy shutsdown if detecting Warden)
I bot all my toons questing/grinding/BGbuddy and not even once had someone call me a bot, let alone report me.

If you are just questing and do get reported and do get banned its for 72 hours... In the very unlikely event that happens just call that your warning and stop botting.

Thank you for all the answers.

I think I will give this a go. If I understand correctly there is a number of plug-ins that is usefull to add to prevent being detected. After browsing the forums on this site; these are the ones that seems most interesting (at first glance at least):
Mr.ItemRemover2, AutoEquip2, Sharp Exit and BuddyGrowl (does the last one work with windows phone I wonder..). Is there any others you would recommend to a bot-noob, and does these ones seem to be a good selection?
:)

Soooo...bought Honorbuddy, and installed it. Went on wow and started honorbuddy. Get kicked out of wow, and then get errormessage on honorbuddy. Tries again, same thing. Then, starts wow all over, working fine; starts Honorbuddy again and get this message: "Max sessions - Authentication Failed!" What happened? Havent used it once.....

questing is fine i use it all the time

85-90 questing u need to really babysit tho as the bot tends to do some shit that is just so fucking stupid -_-

You will need to make an account on authbuddy with the same username you used to sign up with (not username for forums). When you login to authbuddy you can see which sessions are active and kill it, This happens from time to time when the bot crashes.

Thank you :) It now seems to be working, at least running. But I have encountered a new problem: I downloaded Kicks Mega something (profile), and got it going. I have allready done four or five quests in Northrend, and the profile does not seem to recognize this; and keeps trying to interact with the first questgiver there. I have tried to stop the bot, find a new quest, and start it again, but it only deletes the new quest and returns to the first questgiver in Northrend. How to I skip to get back on track? :)

have u tried deleting the Cache folder where you installed your HB?
usual fix for me.

Another route is see if you have already completed the quest or the quest giver is changed / slightly moved. It should tell you which quest you are trying to complete / pick up in the info panel on your HB.

Yeah, im loading Kicks Kun'Lai summat profile, tab in and my bots in the dead wastes...wtf?

# minute waittime after crash or shutdown of honorbuddy it will work after the waittime make sure you got an updated version of whetever package you are using. i would get the bot going right before trying to use the monitoring software

Just listen to smart people like this guy and you'll be fine.
