Levelling guide for first character/ Main class? (Not Alts)

I've tried fate... but it's extremely slow. Main quests are incomplete. Any suggestions? It's literally my first character. Pretty tough.

Edit: During boss fates the char doesn't really avoid any of the moves... it just gets hit by everything =/

Main quests and dungeons will give the most experience. Fates are only worth it after leveling your first job/class to 50/60 for alt jobs/classes to take advantage of the armory experience bonus.

^ this, pretty much. Prior to the expansion release, SquareEnix stated (iirc) that the Main Scenario quests would be enough to get you from 1-50 on their own.

If you're able to monitor the official questing pack (don't run it unmonitored), I'd run that until it finishes and you should be either already 50, or close to it.

They are not inherently supported. A plugin like Zekken (link) needs to be used in conjunction with Fate Bot to avoid telegraphed attacks - it will be re-written over the coming months, iirc, but I believe you're able to add your own spells to the database if they aren't currently supported.
